Has anyone who has played both Morrowind and Oblivion found any mention of what the heck happened after the riots about Uriel Septim's sons being suspected dopplegangrs? Did I miss something in either game, or did Bethesda decide to just ignore that little kink in Cyrodillic history?

I think that nothing happened after that, I mean, there was the bloodbath when the guards massacred a group of protesters and then probably the thing pretty much died. In the beginning of Oblivion, we learn that the emperor's sons were also killed by the Mythic Dawn.

But, as Leydenne said, the folks in the Lore forum would certainly have an answer for this. Or theories.

TES has always been notoriously inept at creating a sense of recent events in-game. The world could have been created 6 days before you got off the ship in Morrowind, but hardly anyone will really care or talk much about it.

The unrest probably died out. Oblivion doesn't take place immediately after Morrowind.

Or maybe the Heirs the Mythic Dawn agents killed were really doppgangrs and the real heirs will turn up for TES V.

Yes. It's always been my belief it was the Oblivion plot that never was.

I like to think OB occured enough years after MW for any political drama to subside. Kinda like Tianenaman (sp?!) Square, or Kent State. After awhile, people stopped caring other than historians and survivors. Sad, but true... :shrug:

A clone. In most senses, it can be a genetic copy, an illusion, or a guy who bears an uncanny resemblance to the person in question. Saddam Hussain had a ton of Dopplegangers, as did/do Osama Bin Laden and other terrorist baddies.

It would help explain why Uriel's sons never married: if there was an unspoken worry that his sons were dopplegangers and thus not fully human, the nobility would be less likely to bring their daughters forward to be married. Personally, I don't think they were dopplegangers.

well the Mythic Dawn is aligned with dagon. and the doppelgangers, if they truly were such, were put into place during the reign of Jagar Tharn, who also was aligned towards Dagon. (battlespire anyone?) so one would assume that the doppelgangers, put into place by tharn, a pawn of dagon, would also be "dagonites", as nu-mantia puts it. as such, what would be the point of a dagon-aligned group to kill off individuals aligned with the same daedric prince? it would make for good plot twists, but realistically, it wouldn't happen.

Not so certain about that as I remember some NPC saying that
the Nerevarine was off on a trip to Akavira nd hadn't returned.
So unless he was immortal, it could only have been 50 yrs
at the most after Morrowind.

Oblivion takes place in 3e 433
