Figured ide post this and see what comes of it. Always annoys me when I see this on a terminal and find no info really on why its there. So anyways, below is a quote you can find on a lot of terminals throughout the commonwealth, after a certain number of BoS quests have been completed.

Most terminals don't give anything than "rabble rabble" . However, some terminals open doors, safe and activate robots. There is a quest connected to spesific terminals, but it doesn't break the quest if you look into the terminals before the quest is activated. Btw, some terminals can point out new places to visit or some enemies to fight.

If you don't do the BoS quests, I believe the data is there for you to read.
