Forced Third Person Finishing Moves Camera Confirmed

Post » Sun Jul 31, 2011 5:11 am

We didn't forget the PS3 version. It's coming along just as planned.

Mr. Hines, there have also been some rumors about not being able to block while dual-wielding, yet no official confirmation, either way. Could you comment further on that?

I like that. Plus, I don't think it will effect the way I play the game much. Might become slightly annoying one day, but basically it doesn't sound like the end of the world at all.

I turned all the vats slow mo kill cam stuff off after seeing it one time, and I'll give finishers the same chance. I hope that even if we cant turn actual finishers off that we will be able to turn off any slow mo and cinematic camera effects. I do like the idea of having assassin type finishers, instead of slashing at an npc back, but I don't like the idea of having them drawn out and with the camera movig around a lot.

What's really great about the dual-wielding is that it puts the power in your hands. You can set yourself up any way you want.

Not happy about it at all... and neither are around 65 % of 562 voters in my previous thread: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1200875-finishing-moves-they-are-automatic-and-sometimes-force-you-into-third-person-and-sometimes-are-in-slow-motion/page__p__17882384#entry17882384

I truly hope finishing moves, slow motion and forced third person will be optional either through a setting/perk or something.

Perhaps someone with twitter could ask Pete if finishing moves, slow motion and/or forced third person is optional one way or another in Skyrim. Would be great to have an answer for it.

Not much. I don't like it but it's not that big a deal. Hopefully there is an option to have only first person finishers in first person or turn them off completely though.

In Oblivion, when you take the sigil stone, the game takes over for a few seconds to give you the gate closing animation. What's the difference?

I look forward to seeing some epic finishing moves. It done well, it can enhance the immersive quality of the game.

I see the need for a third person kill for dragons, as you will be jumping and climbing beast which could make some people nauseous, but it worked fine for the bandit human kill. I didn't see the need for a forced camera on the wolf/dog.

It needed to be 3rd person with the wolf because the PC kicked it in the face. If it was 1st person we wouldn't be able to see our leg.

going with not much on this one. Camera switching is easily modded out if I don't like the effect.

I won't vote in the poll as this won't affect my playstyle at all.

But it svcks. When I am playing in first person I want finishing moves, but only in first person.
I hope we will be able to turn the third person finishing moves off in the game settings. Otherwise, I'll have to wait for a skilled modder to take it out.

It's not like you can't have legs in first person.

I don't care too much if im forced to use the third person view while im finishing a beast or something, think about it, Oblivion (and I think that any other previous TES titles) have no "body" while you are in a first person view, you cant see your own legs or body, so doing all the finishers for first and third person view will be a hard work for the devs, I know that It would be cool but I think that there are more important things to fix in the game than this.

I liked those in fallout 3. I just didn't like the ridiculous amount of head and limb explosions. It was highly overdone, even when it made no sense. I mean come on, a 9 mil. to the dome shouldn't be able to SHATTER YOUR SKULL AND JAWBONE INTO PIECES!!!!

We've also seen a finishing move on a human warrior in the demo while dual wielding swords. This finishing move however didn't jump into third-person when activated. Either it's specific for certain monsters only or you can get an option to toggle the slowly/3rd person off for a normal speed/1st person kill, the exact same thing you could do in FONV basically.

If this is not the case i will be truly dissapointed.

It has been confirmed that finishing moves are different for each weapon and each creature. In the demo we saw forced third person and first person finishing moves, so it's very likely that those were dependent on that specific weapon for that specific type of creature/enemy. Finishing moves are also not optional (based on what we've been told so far) because they are automatic and you have no control over them.

Hopefully finishing moves will be optional kind of like in FONV. One toggle for slow motion, one toggle for forced third person, one toggle for the entire finishing move feature. Perhaps they could even be connected to perks (and thus save us from the horror of having too many toggles), if some kind of extra damage bonus to using finishing moves was added to the game.

If the final movements can not be avoided ... At least, I hope the camera is dynamic. I mean, I hate to see the same little scene over and over again from the same point of view.
