Forced Third Person Finishing Moves Camera Confirmed

Post » Sun Jul 31, 2011 5:06 am

One thing that is funny about the poll is that it has options for "effects me a lot" and "That svcks I'm not buying the game" but none for "makes me wait for someone to publish a mod that removes it before I buy the game"

if you'd put off buying the game until somebody modded it out i'd say it probably affects you a lot.

You didn't go into third person when knocked down in Morrowind. The camera just lowered to the ground. The only times you go into third person in Morrowind is when you press the key to switch, or when you die (or if you stand still and don't do anything for a couple minutes).

In Oblivion, you're forced into third person quite often... mounting a horse, sitting down or standing up, getting knocked down, paralyzed... And yes, I hated it doing that.

I'm not really worried about forced third person finishers being optional. There most likely will be an option to disable it. I'm concerned that disabling third person "kill cams" will also disable those finishers from tiggering at all. I like the finishers and want to see them, but from a first-person perspective, not third.

Now that you mention it, yeah, I'm quite wrong. Oops.

Still it's all personal taste. Include the option to turn it off, Bethesda. Please.

Won't affect me that much, but I would still like a first person variant for every finishing animation.
I don't see a reason for no first person finishing moves other than developement time.

I'd like to know what happens with the rest of the world while these finishing moves happens.

- Do NPC's keep moving? If they don't, it will look quite out of place for the longer finishing moves to seem them frozen in action.
- Can you get attacked by someone else while they are in progress, without being able to control your character?

If they stuff it up, I can see this being a major annoyance. I don't think it's a good idea in an open world game, I can see it causing problems.
If they give an option to avoid it, it would be nice to be able to have it turned totally off. Having to interrupt it by pressing a key/button each time will be irritating.

Still questionable whether or not finishers are optional and how many of these "monsters" force a third person cam-kill.

I don't see how your quote answers those questions either, yet you made the title like it did..?
I understand your concern about it though.

I love how console gamers always get excluded from everyone's mind...

But yes, as might be a couch said, obviously it does effect you. My poll options are so generic there's no way around it.

Yeah. Don't overreact folks. The finishers for dragons will probably be in third and hopefully first person. Now watch either the GTTV trailer or the G4 trailer (can't remember wich) In the cave he is dual wielding against a bandit and does a finisher in first person. Another thing that I've heard Todd toss about that a regular attack won't initiate a finisher but it will if the opponent is near death and you hold down on your attack button for the power attack.

lazy as [censored]. same thing with using caps for emphasis vs. bold or italics or whatever. function over form~

Damn my paranoia... Luckily I had his number.

And as long as I get what your saying, that works. I just have to be as correct as possible for slight OCD reasons. I text like this as well; becomes a pain in the ass.

Now that I look back on it I agree, there's still a lot of confusion on the subject. I do believe they will make us watch in third person as I just can't see a dragon finisher like that, in first person, happening. Never realy thought about an optional prefference view. But the more topics brought up about the issue I figure will increase the chances of a developer seeing one and taking note on it. This poll is actualy being quite counterproductive though...

It does say slow down the action OR zoom out. Perhaps if your in first person. The action slows down for the finishing move, or if your in third person, it zooms out.

well if it is optional and we have a tweet to back it up then the threads might die after only three pages, instead of seven.

What is the difference between:
"Some"
and
"A moderate amount"

This makes the poll rather unbalanced and confusing, since they both mean the exact same thing.

I apologize if English isn't your first language. :)

Pffft. As if we'd get anything other than an entirely uncommunicative sentence out of Pete. I can see it now - "Well they're sort of like NV."

Yeah. Thanks. That clears it right up.

No problem. I Roleplay but I don't really think it will effect me, let's hope there are only finishers when theres 1 enemy left if you're fighting a group. Because I fight in 1st Person and walk around and such in 3rd Person, sometimes I even fight in 3rd Person.

From what I've read, I think the "finishers" are activated by the player. I assume you'd be please with this.

We're really excited about things like impersonating executives of advertisemant-related things, but we're not ready to talk about that yet.
