socratesofsnails: The prose is good. You have a nice flow, generally speaking. Some of the more erudite wordings are a little skewed; not in meaning, just in smoothness of presentation. I like your examples of possible origins, but the ending does not have suitable punch after all that; i.e., it is undeveloped.
