I want to see something new and wild
the kind of fantastical foliage that either makes you shiver or invites you to frolic in the fallen leaves
I want trees that look nothing like we can find on earth, so I will not be providing a reference picture

It all depend on how far north it is and how much reality you want.

Forest a bit like in RDR, Tall Trees region would be a good start.

http://www.nordiclandscapes.com/ seems to be a good source of photographs when discussing Skyrim's landscapes.

Nice forest examples: http://www.nordiclandscapes.com/Woodlands-Winter/slides/14-winter-landscapes-norway.jpg | http://www.nordiclandscapes.com/Woodlands-Winter/slides/3-sunset-midwinter-solstice.jpg | http://www.nordiclandscapes.com/Waterfalls-Rivers-Lakes/slides/15-winter-oslo-norway.jpg | http://www.nordiclandscapes.com/Woodlands-Spring-Summer-Autumn/slides/2-scots-pine-forest.jpg

But yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing some more fantastical touches (I love the petrified, and glowing flora ideas).

I don't mind too much what they look like but I really really want to be able to climb them :) Snipe people or hide/escape from persuers or just for fun, maybe relate to acrobatics skill. I'd like a dense forest that you good lose sight of something/something lose sight of you. And I like the idea of settlements and bandits just suddenly appearing without notice.

hopefully it will be like the forested part of the jerall mountains in oblivion. that was pretty awesome, especially when it started to snow and the area looked hazy.

If Skyrim ends up looking that good, real life will no longer be an option for me. All that will exist is the game, and everything else is just there to keep me occupied while recharging controller batteries..

I'd prly lose my job. Ah well, at least I could play until the power got shut off lol.

I combination of evergreen and deciduous would be enjoyed. Perhaps the evergreen & tundra would dominate the higher elevations and allow for pockets of lush deciduous forests tucked along the fjords.

Variety.

Friendly, open forests around inhabited areas with clearings and lovely small lakes.

Further into the wild the paths could get more windy, moss drooping from tall trees, less daylight, a more threatening atmosphere.

Dead and petrified forests.

An area inhabited by furry big spiders, with webs everywhere.

A huge tree with a small village on its branches.

Actual forests, not like the orchards in Oblivion that were inappropriately named 'forests'. At the same time, I don't want the forest to be too real. I want them to feel real, but not completely simulate forests in real life and in popular fantasy. I would like to see Bethesda actually use their imagination to make the forests unique, yet familiar.

I would like ones that are deep, animal filled, with winding streams and rivers through them.

Also, I think it would be cool to have a giant hedge maze with some sort of huge tough monster in the middle that you must be a very high level to beat and get the legendary weapon its guarding. Hm, I think I've heard of this before...somewhere...

Within the ancient pine forest is a large lake, and at its centre is an island, which is the home of a ruined castle. I want enviroments like Rothiemurchus in Skyrim.

i really like this one

You know how it feels to be walking in the woods when snow is coming gently down in thick flakes and your steaming breath is the only thing that can be heard except for the soft crush of your boots? I want that kind of forest, too. Sorry I have no pictures.
