FO Forge World And Possible DLC

Post » Tue Sep 03, 2013 1:12 pm

Halo has forge world which is a place for you to go and be creative all the tools and options you need to

create structures and other on a small map are at your disposal you can also set up matches and play

with the online community however that's not what this threads about.

This thread is about FO forge world strictly for creative purposes and perhaps submitting options

regarding your creation to be used as DLC.

PC users have mod kits which is great and mod kits for consoles has been discussed in the past

what I'm proposing is not to be confused with mod kits well similar a FO forge world would be

much more streamline it would work much like Halos forge world only PC and console players

would have accesses to it and it would be extremely simple to use "point and click".

FO forge world would be separate from the game disk but it would come with the game in order to

access FO forge world you simply pop the forge world disk in and instal it afterwards patches and

updates would or could be added for additional content.

FO forge world DLC you can submit your creation to Beth if it has what it takes it will be added with

many others to be made available as DLC perhaps Beth could run a contest with prizes

like items similar to what's in the FO store so if your creation did not make the cut but was still

considered to be really good you get a T or coffee mug or something.

Beth would add story and quests for the selected creations that way all your doing is creating a

area filled with structures and items ect.. some examples of FO forge world areas.

1. City block 8. Suburban block

2. Dead forest 9. Factory

3. Desert farm 10. Beach

4. Vault 11. Army base

5. Sewer system 12. Island

6. Cave system 13. Mountain

7. Train tunnels 14. Cemetery

To the staff I humbly ask for you to allow this thread as it was a lot of work also its somewhat unique.

The issue is-and it's been asked many, many times- is that it would require the creation of a separate tool.

The Construction Kit/Creation Kit/GECK has always been released to PC users as it's the same tool the developers use to make the game with a couple of third party licensed tools and features removed.

For them to do this, they'd need to spend the time and resources to develop a tool that sounds little like more than a tile placer. That's not even a fraction of what the tool can do. Plus from the sound of it, Beth would still be doing all the work for sorting, judging, scripting , dialogue, bug testing etc. Who's going to pay for that, doing such things does take money and time. Creating an area is just a tiny piece of whats involved.

There's a lot more work involved in this idea that you think. Work that will lead to a lot of costs for Bethesda for very little gain.

And I'm sorry to say, it's not as unique an idea as you may think. It's been suggested or similar ideas have, since Morrowind hit the Xbox.

If they had map sizes similar to Halo people could make maps bigger than what we have seen in Fallout.

Halo has done shuch a thing and it's a massive title which was my main point how you missed that is beyond me also it seems

that you missed another key point which is a FO forge world would be more like the forge world Halo has over a traditional mod kit.

So if it worked for Halo why not FO? Your playing it off as if it's such a difficult thing yet other games have pulled it off and thats

without next gen hardware to be completely honest Beth could pull this off without much problems.

Also Halos forge world was and is a huge success so if you argue people wouldn't love a feature like this you would be incorrect.

I have no problem with criticism but read the thread before doing so.

Why would they take the effort to release a forge world? We already have the Creation Kit and G.E.C.K when dealing with Bethesda's games. Those tools are basically what the developers use to create the games.

Just as DevenTarn pointed out, why take the time, effort and resources to create a separate tool which cannot do even a fraction of what the G.E.C.K and Creation Kit does? Have you actually used Forge, G.E.C.K and the Creation Kit? Forge only deals with the placement of objects, not dialogue, scripting and so on.

In fact, Forge was a very dumbed-down version of Sparkedit that was used with Halo CE. Why they ever got rid of Sparkedit and replaced it with Forge is beyond me. You should take a look at the products of fan creation on Halo Custom Edition. People used programs like Sparkedit to create maps that dwarf Skyrims, involve scripting, world creation, fan made objects and vehicles and so on. If you haven't played Coldsnap on Halo Custom Edition you don't know what pure Halo awesomeness is.
