That's actually a pretty nice idea! I'll go with something along those lines.

Cheers for clearing that up.

No problem. Any other questions you might have, just post them here and I'll try to answer them the best I can.

Also, the http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1331226-a-forgotten-land-ic-thread/ thread is up for everyone to start posting with their characters.

Here it is! Apologies if I missed anything or something doesn’t make sense. :)

Name: Harry Patton
Age: 30
Race: Caucasian
Gender: Male
Height: 6’4’’
Weight: 225

Hair Style: Long-ish (about mid-neck length) and slicked back, though in an unkempt manner. Think of the ‘Blast Back’ style in FO3 and NV.
Facial Hair: A scraggily goatee
Hair Color: Auburn
Eye Color: Green
Skin Color: Light-skinned. Typically, he doesn’t tan well.
Body Tone: Well-built and fairly muscular. His shoulders are wide and his overall stature is imposing.
Appearance: Although by no means a lady killer, Harry facial appearance is one of a rugged handsomeness, as shown in his strong jaw and defined cheekbones. Largely as a result of a rough childhood and adolescence, Harry’s nose is crooked and has clearly been broken several times. Harry’s eyes are more like narrow slits, conveying his focus and grit. A faint scar from a wolf ambush marks his left cheek.

Armor/Clothes: In combat, Harry proudly dons his great-grandfather’s winterized combat armour; it’s a little worn with age, but it’s a hell of a lot cheaper maintaining it than buying a new full set.

Harry’s typical street attire: Thick green wooly jumper (often with sleeves rolled up), white t-shirt, charcoal cargo pants, black hiking books, fingerless gloves and an old lumberjack hat.

Weapons: In combat, (therefore on the offensive): Mossberg 500 combat shotgun, 9mm pistol, combat knife. Is apprehensive about using ‘nades.
When out about town or on a job (usually as some form of security in a saloon or store), a riot shotgun. Harry finds its defensive capabilities useful for crowd control.

Gear: Stimpak, water canteen, Rad-Away, pocket knife, whistle, and a snack, if he can find one.

Job(s): Harry used to work as a guard for his father’s small caravan company, but due to the ongoing hostilities and the adverse effect they’ve had on the caravan, that’s not a lucrative line of work. More recently, Harry has been advertising himself as a freelance security guard, his employers mostly being shop owners and saloon proprietors; the former paying him to watch their place overnight, the latter compensating him for keeping the rowdy folk in line and stopping their establishment from being burned down.

Personality/Bio: A descendent of Cpt. Andrew D. Patton, an officer who served valiantly in the Sino-American War and particularly the Anchorage Reclamation. Cpt. Patton remained stationed at Anchorage after the repelling of Chinese forces and fled to Whittier in the aftermath of the Great War, where he played a role in helping to build the community.

The Patton family has been settled in Whittier since the Great War, and has always been willing in offering its hand to the community – officiously so, at times. The Pattons are a proud and strong family, their bonds rarely broken. They are characterised by their tenacity, diligence and fervency in spirit – Harry is no exception. Like his father Danny (and his mother before she died of natural causes), Harry loves his town and sees it as a shining example for all thriving settlements. Indeed, any potential opposition to the peace Harry would wish to see thwarted and destroyed through any means – such jingoism is shared by his father and, to a lesser extent, younger brother, Hutch.

From a young age, Harry was encouraged to be competitive and, occasionally, violent in his father’s effort to prepare him for the unforgiving world outside. He often brawled with his brother and got in fights with others, even if they were, for the most part, innocuous little scuffles. Many wilderness and hunting trips meant Harry was well-learned in the art of survival and resource-gathering; he always enjoyed the seemingly tranquil milieu the wilderness provided, so when the influx of hostile tribal communities disturbed that peace, he became increasingly acrimonious about their being.

Although Harry’s father was always bitter about not being elected to sit on the Council of Four in spite of his services, he continued to serve Whittier proudly by running a successful caravan company, which generated a stable local economy and traded valuable goods efficaciously with all friendly settlements in the vicinity. When the caravan was basically put out of business by the aggression of the local tribes, the town slowly became drained of supplies and it became clear to Harry that they’d have to fight a total war against the barbarians. He readily joined the militia and was appointed a Squad Leader on the merits of his martial ability and all-around dedication to the cause. His amiable yet firm demeanor made him popular with his subordinates, whereas his superiors respected the industrious nature of his work ethic.

Other:
- a womanizer. Has found it difficult to establish a stable relationship, despite his virtues. Often gives in to temptation.

- Loves his Alaskan husky Rosie, who he found alone in the wilderness and named after his deceased mother.

Rank: Group Leader
Group Members:
- Hutch Patton, 28, Rifleman
- Leon Strauss, 20, Rifleman
- Alice Gregory, 25, Marksman
- Bob “Ballsy” Mahoney, 29, combat engineer
- Paul O’Keefe, 24, machine-gunner (is that similar to a heavy trooper?)

Undead Fiend & Everyone else: I just checked out the IC thread and I just want to make it clear that if you're not going to post right away in the IC thread, don't clutter it with an OOC, especially when we're just starting and only two other people have posted actual in character posts. Even if everyone's posted two or three times, no OOC posts for "reserving" a spot to post, or anything else, will be done anymore. That's what this thread is now for, posting anything out of character that you need to say or discuss.

I'm just posting this, because I want to make sure the IC thread isn't cluttered before it happens too many times later on. If you're not going to post in character right away, don't post anything in the IC except for IC posts. There's plenty of time and space for you to post and opening post with your character, and we're not going to leave you in the dust, jumping five or six points of progression.

Also, I'll be the keeper of what time it is, in game. If you want to start your post earlier than the hour(s) I give in my posts, that's fine, but just be sure to note that the end of your post should end at the approximate time my post begins. I want us to all gradually have our characters on the same time of day so we can get things done together.

Well, what if we are RP'ing a situation that happens to unfold over time, say an hour or two? Or is the rule basically 'as long as we don't advance the day we are in the clear'?

It's up to you.

If I post just a single hour in time, then besides opening posts which I'll allow to be before, but we'll say end at the time I gave, that's the hour in which everyone's post starts from (even if they don't post the time I gave). If I post from X hour to Y hour, then that's when everyone's posts starts and stops, and people should take notice of the passing of time in their posts.

It's just so people stay together with time, and we don't have the problem of one or two people posting during the day-time hours (in-game), while the rest are posting some night-time hours, but are somehow still chatting with each other, and things like that.

Yeah, no problem there, it's your characters job outside the militia, so it's nothing out of character. Besides always doing militia work, our characters will be doing their other jobs as well when time permits (like now.) And I'm glad you actually reposted in the post you reserved. Most of the time that's not the case.

EDIT: Also, where's everyone else who hasn't posted? It would be nice to start getting this RP rolling, and away from just sitting on some people's first posts. We've got things to achieve and tribals to kill.

Really nice touch there inextricable with the Alaskan Huskie, good use of subject matter to flesh out the world of the RP, so on and so on. Also, I don't know if it was unintentional, but you sent your brother to the clinic, which is essentially me  . So were you planning on RPing an interaction between us? Let me know so I know how to do my first post, or else I'll just post everything before then.

I'm finishing a project in RL, so you have until some time after midnight to tell me.

You know, I was thinking about that, but decided against it. Hutch is a secondary character, to me, and I don't really want to be writing from his perspective. I suppose I should have mentioned your name; I'd imagine our characters would have interacted before seeing as you're the local doctor.

If you want, you can mention Hutch came into the clinic and bought some med-x or whatever. Not sure if that would count as control, though. Do as you see fit.

Addendum: I actually wouldn't be averse to writing a small character sheet for Hutch; he's likely to play a rather large role in the story, and will possibly have posts dedicated entirely to him. Guess that's up to Dr. S.

For a new guy to this, Inextricable, you did a fine job at a first opening post. Keep it up. :)

Also, Undead Fiend, I sort of control the two guys you put to guard the general store in my latest post. Nothing too controlling or anything, just some idle chit-chat between Grunt and Section Commander.

Also I want to make it apparent to everyone in this RP, that if those who haven't posted yet, don't, and fall behind a few posts (5+), they'll be struck from the RP as players. The reasoning behind this, is because they're going to be behind in both posts and in-game time, and I don't want people just posting up when it's convenient, like a battle or something, just to disappear again when it's over or something. This is also how I'll strike anyone else who just disappears from the RP without giving me word ahead of time. I know real life gets us sometimes, but it's important to at least PM me some quick blip about you being unable to post for a time or whatever. So far we have a good amount of people who've signed up, posting, so I'm not too worried about it, I just want to give everyone a heads up about what I mean about striking people, and give some more detail on how this newer system of RP, can work with people coming in and out.

I don't think a CS is too important for them, at least not a full CS like a main character, but you can really just give detail to them through dialogue and interaction like I have with Henry. Maybe just: Name, Age, Race, Gender & Personality/Bio, will be enough if you want to make a short CS. But just remember, if they're to play a big part with your characters, notify me about exactly how so, because since they're group members, they are still up in the air for possibly being killed off if I feel like thinning out the herd a bit in the Section. Of course, that sort of thing won't be happening outside of battle situations, but just remember that. Even someone like Henry, who's acting as an assistant to my character, can be knocked off if I choose. So if you don't want me screwing up any idea you have planned for them, tell me the plan and I'll work around maybe knocking out a different member in your group.

I'm not holding back either with killings or just injuring a character enough that they're laid up and can't fight, but will of course notify the player responsible for the NPC, before doing so. There is the chance that (however slim it may be) I may somewhere along the line, kill off someone's entire group, leaving just them alone to wait for new recruits (of their creation as well).

I won't create a Cs then, but Jason is going to have a big part to play in the way Andrew commands. I mean Jason is Andrew's second in command.

Name: Alice Hedwind

air Style: Just.. long... Facial Hair: Non existant.
Hair Color: Crimson dyed.

Body Tone: Slender
Appearance: sixy and I know it. You was just asking for that.

Armor/Clothes: On a normal occassion, you'll find her in typical cut up the leg blue jeans which have this white stain like detail on the knees. Wears black tights below it for the cuts above of the knee. On top, is a plain t-shirt colored in black and white stripes, on top of that is a small jacket like deal made of leather. For cold situations, she has a similar leather jacket in which she has killed and skinned various coyotes and other mammals with beautiful furs and fitted around the collar and wrists, as well as on the bottom of the leather jacket. As for hostile situations, she wares typical leather armor with one acception, along it has minor reinforced spikes on the shoulders. Just in case a hand to hand confrentation. With the leather armor, she might ware something minor to cover her head via headphones for her ears as well as to keep frostbite from getting at them. Helps with the noise too, she supposes.

Used souly for long range persuits. Sharpened Combat Knife for close range hand-to-hand battles, a typical pistol, and one light machine gun.

Pending through her mood. Highly social, as long as you don't mind boysterous behavior. Apart from being highly social, she typically dodges questions about herself, prefers to know about others. She also shows a well formed intellegence, though she doesn't really express it unless in a combat situation. Though, when she is in a combat production, she is a completely one hundered precent different type of woman. Level-headed, thinking things through, consiquences and often oh so often forms minor simulations of plans in her mind running it over and over until it eventually is stuck there as a battle plan. Then, she progresses onward to training and nuriching that plan, fixing problems, and eventually develuping it and praticing it in a training grounds. Think it through even more, and then *maybe* use it, not in a full fledged combat situation, but a prehaps training run? Nether the less, she gets it done. In battle, caution around every corner, keeps her eye on her men, etc etc.

Rank: Use your brains, Group Leader.

Group Members: Jerome Elijha (Machine-Gunner) Kim Jones (Rifleman, mostly her spotter) Henry Jones (Young brother to Kim Jones and a Sapper) Emile Hunterson (Secondary Machine-gunner) "Killometer" (Alis, and its spelled like that. Hes a Sapper too.)

Tried to get two of each in that. So yeah... murr.

I highly doubt that someone who's 5'6'' and nearly 190 lbs would be seen as 'slender'.

xp I'll fix it... sometimes I get yelled at for making to fat characters, other times too skinny characters.

Weight is just a major blind spot pretty much for me.. and thanks, I'll a fix it.

Is that better in your opinion? If not I'll drop it more if I have to.

Alright Zuke, you're good to go. I'll add you in with the rest of the players. If you can, start brainstorming and maybe try to get an opening post in sometime today. It's only introductions really, to break our characters in, so no need for anything heavy or serious right now, just an intro to your character like the rest of us have done.

Jbutton, glad to hear some news. If you can, try and slip an opening post in as well when you can, because if you fall behind on the five posts (and I mean five posts of mine) then you're going to have some trouble with keeping pace with the rest of us as we progress. And if it comes down to it, I'll have to drop you from the RP.

Josh, same goes for you.

I'm no expert on human physiology, but I'd say 135-140 lbs would be more appropriate, assuming your girl is athletic and has some defined muscle. If I recall correctly, 163 is about the average weight for males aged 20-29. At 5'6'', your girl would look pretty stacked.
