[LIST] Forgotten/underdog mods

Post » Tue Oct 06, 2009 11:36 am

Everyone is familiar with the great work of Korana, so this mod might not need to be on the list, but I think I'll mention this one just for the thread anyways, since it might get overlooked as being frivolous.

If you love collecting things, it's a must. All those beautiful soaps and combinations of towels and robes!
Also, really good for anyone interested in new alchemical ingredients.

Maybe it's ironic that this thread has been forgotten, but I'm bumping it.
Anyone have more ideas?

Dude, please don't post anymore links from Elric's site, it's virused (worm)... I keep forgetting all the time, click on the bloody links and have Avast sounding the alarm! :)

First it happened almost a month ago, that's why I forgot and clicked again on your link (today). Have a good antivirus enabled (I use Avast for many years now, I trust it 100%, it fortunately blocks the virused webpage before you get the nasty) and you will get the same... ;) I remember I saw someone else saying the same a while ago, but I don't remember who and on what thread...

I see... However, my Avast detects a Worm, not a Trojan, if that matters. Besides, I'd rather let an antivirus being over-cautious on a badly programmed website, than risk any virus. I work on computer for nearly 20 years and that makes me also over-cautious on this particular issue... ;)

An old classic Guild/Quest mod.
Probably forgotten by many nowadays. http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=127

Yeah it's very good, it's the first quest mod I ever downloaded and I used it again with my current character.

I hate to shamelessly plug, but my book mod, http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=5782 seems to fall under the radar of anyone but the most hardcoe book lovers.

Are book mods just not that popular?

I like them, anyway =P.

And I've said it before, but I definitely agree with some of the above statements -- Painkiller, your shields are the absolute best, I can't help but favor them over anything else with characters using Block.

to point something out, Avast wasnt the only anti-virus giving a warning. it was freaking out over hidden code that would direct your connection to a viral site of some kind. in other words a "drive-by attack". or whatever the slang is called for picking up something nasty by simply being on a site not thought to be malicious. this svcks of course as who the heck knows what you could pick up just by thinking its a false positive. Which when having asked about it to people at avast they said it was not a false positive. dunno why people got confused over that, i made it clear i thought. your machine...what do i care.

at any rate, lettucehead had a nice suggest. The Broken Drum (awesome discworld humor and mod !!)

ill suggest a md i think is fantastic-
Pegas Horse Ranch by MadMax - http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=2811

also to add to it, several better body saddle mods are neat. i would suggest using alien slof's high res textures for the ranch. but sadly he/she took them down. they SO make an improvement. try to find that one though anyway. it kicks a$$ ! ^_^

Slof has recently been updating and adding her mods back onto her website, and on PES. (and even has some WIPs for Oblivion)
So far the ranch textures have not been added anywhere though.

The link, The Amulet of Scrye by Izva, when i click on it, loads the Elric Melniborne, Amulet of Scrye by Izva, web page, but then Kaspersky 2009 blocks a script from running saying it's a trojan but never closes out the web page. Did it 3 times and it blocked it every time. Very suprising to say the least.

In that vein I want to also suggest Abot's http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=6112. It used to be a fairly popular mod, but I think it's been almost forgotten. I've always been a huge fan of Abot's work. :)

As stated elsewhere in this thread, and in other threads, you're supposedly getting a false-positive on Elric's site. It actually is safe as far as I know.
Unfortunately, that's the only place that mod is hosted.
Turn off your virus protector for a few minutes I guess.

edit: just to be clear. It works fine for me, and many others. This is why it seems to be safe anyways. Use your own judgment though.

more fun mods-

Forest's of Vvardenfell- a tree mod, that albeit will not replace much for anything special. I use this along side Vality's tree mod's and it make your forest with billboards and static tree's. plus it looks lush ^_^
get it at -http://endhome.com/

Fuller Bodies by sorcha-
http://homepage.eircom.net/~cotnfan/

also has male changes. small mod that i think gives a nicer female physique thing to the game. no offense to stick figure females in real life =P

This is the House I link to people when they ask for Lots of Storage/Mannequins. This house has plenty of both, and it looks nice. Surprisingly few downloads.

Divided into many cells, so you don't have to worry about FPS or the Loot Bag.
Perfect for all the collectors.
