Forsoothe! Jumpy and runny should not have been taken out!

Post » Mon Jan 17, 2011 2:31 am

Once finding out that acrobatics and such were taken out, i was quite dissapointed for a few reasons:

I loved jumping high! I loved using spells to manipulate it in morrowind! :P and besides, at least that darn cat race should be able to jump higher than others, methinks! and for running, of course some races should run faster than others, but even so one does not run the same speed all their life, they get better if they do it all the time! What, will i run at a fast pace in the whole game? I liked starting out slow, and bulding up from there!
BLAGHGHG

sorry this makes no sense, but yea. qq moar this is a game forum! :ahhh::D

The only reason I miss Acrobatics is that we probably won't be seeing any hilarious Jump spells in Skyrim... :shakehead:

I guess there'll be some perks to replace the inconvenience of having no acrobatics skill. Perhaps Khajiit will still have a slight early advantage over other races.

well apparently the fun has got to end some time and I guess that time is now. its a shame that people who abused grinding and then complained that acrobatics threw off the balance were able to hi jack it and now its become a scape goat. oh well, thats what CK is for.

Exactly! Those were fun! Heck, everytime i jumped with them in morrowind my heart would literally speed up, i would feel like i was on a ride haha (more like on a swing when i go really high when i was young, but i get scared easily from moving fast and heights!) just that gut feeling like you have no air.. i would feel that when i would jump really high in the game, and i liked it!

besides it was fun to just jump on building roofs to get past those pesky guards :P

funny thing i remember from Morrowind, i would go on top of a high mountain and then jump off and keep jumping everytime i landed with potions and spells and stuff to improve the jumping and i could get from some a certain town to another within a very short amount of time, i would do that instead of silt striders a lot of the time haha

I'm glad that Acrobatics and Athletics are gone. I hated the fact that they leveled you up so randomly not to mention that you run ridiculously fast at 100 speed, 100 Athletics.

they only leveled you up if you picked them as a man skill and if not then they did not at all. and once you get to the 50's in acrobatics you get to the point where you have to jump consequetivly for over fifteen minutes. I would not call that random. this has been a made up issue that virtually no one has complained about until they heard that acrobatics were being removed.

The problem is under Skyrim's system all of your skills will level you up so with Acrobatics you could just jump all day and get yourself high in level with little effort. That is probably the main reason why Acro and Athletics are gone not to mention that you run incredibly fast with Athletics although it does take 100 hours to master (Especially with the master trainer being glitched on the consoles).

Please use the search bar. that's two in a row now. Trust me people will start to dislike you VERY quickly, we are quite testy on this forum. The bar is located in the upper right hand corner. This might be the most talked about thing on this forum, you dont even need the search bar for this one. :homestar:

i boosted mine for one character to 1600 and well i could jump once, brush passed the clouds and not see the ground again for at least 2 to 3 minutes, then land without a lick of damage, i only jumped with that character if i needed a quick getaway and was willing to wait for my landing

Make a jump 100 points spell, it only has to last 3 seconds or even just 2. Cast it and jump quickly before it runs out. Much fun.

yeah and so what. this is a perfect example why people who abuse skills or glitches ruin fun features for other people. if people complain that acrobatics is making them level up to quickly they should stop jump spamming. if they are just jumping randomly and its leveling them up in SK that should not even matter any more because every action will level us up faster any ways. seriously, content that was fun and enjoyed by many people should not be dropped just because some other people did not like it even if that some is just as much as the other. its called optional, don't like it don't do it, don't spoil the game for other people and flame a skill. sorry for the burst there but it really just isn't fair for things to get cut because some people have a stick... don't like somthing so theyll make up any bs to see it destroyed.

I'm fairly the sure that by majority, they will not be missed. No more super jumping or running the speed of light.

agreed. I'll go back to morrowind if i feel like jumping the entire span of the game world, or running straight through walls to escape oncoming guards.
I would really like skyrim to be not about how many bugs can we take advantage of to get to the top, but about living the life of a character within the game world, and rising to power in a more natural, believable way.

you can guess, but there wont be..Perks are for skills and Acrobatics/Atheletics aren't skills anymore.

-what I am seeing-

Good its gone Good riddance

yay no more jumping ridiculously high

I hated how it was in Morrowind/Oblivion.

My thoughts.... 1 why does it have to be like Morrowind and Oblivion in Skyrim? and 2, that jumping high bit only happens when the PLAYER wants it too, nothing else

My feelings?  bandwagoners

If the best perk they could think up for acrobatics in Oblivion was to let you jump on water, then they really needed to remove them as skills from the series.

Jump spamming was mostly a problem because jumping was faster than running like all the time. It wasn't so much an issue of folks jumping to level, but rather jumping just to get places faster. Acrobatics should deal with long jumps (for leaping gaps and pitfalls) and increase the finesse of combat movement (rolls, dodges, etc). These really shouldn't be tough issues to address.

Same deal with athletics. Implementing a sprint function was a great idea. It gave Beth the freedom to give everyone a reasonable travel speed from the beginning, and have athletics only affect your active running abilities. From extending the duration of your sprints to damage bonuses for strikes made at the end of a charge. It really sort of amazes me that Beth just decides to cut this [censored] entirely instead of making some simple changes.

So they're culling yet more skills from characters? How many TES games will it be until TES is little more than Hexen in a large world?

Hey I've been thinking the exact same thing! Especially with the magic system, which honestly seems to be boiling down to a matter of shooting pretty colors out of your hands - and one of several forms too, so there's virtually no point in needing a wide arsenal of spells to accommodate different situations anymore. I am a huge Hexen fan, but I definitely would hate to see magic in TES handled just like different weapons in an FPS. Heretic was cooler, anyway.
