Fortify enchanting potion

Post » Sat Oct 19, 2013 8:18 am

Hi all,
I have 100 Alchemy skill, 5/5 Alchemist and 1/1 Benefactor. Is it normal, that I can create only +15% Fortify Enchanting potion? I'm not using any gear enchanted with Fortify Alchemy.
Thanks for answers

Are you wearing any gear with fortify alchemy while you create this potion?

Yes. In your case, you have:

base multi: 4 (applies to all potion effects)
base magnitude: 1 (varies by effect, but just 1 in the case of fortify enchanting)
skill multi: 1.5 (maxed at alchemy skill level 100)
alchemist perks: 5/5: 2 (maxed in your case)
benefactor perk: 1.25 (fixed with a single perk)
So you have 4 * 1 * 1.5 * 2 * 1.25 = 15
Add fortify alchemy gear or fortify alchemy potion and you add more multipliers.
One fortify alchemy gear at 25% and it's:
15 * 1.25 = 18.75
Four pieces each at 25% and it's:
15 * 2 = 30
Add a 30% potion to the four pieces of 25% gear and it's:
15 * 2 * 1.3 = 39
Add a handful of restoration potions and a couple pieces of fortify alchemy gear it's 15 * 5,000 = 75,000 :D

It's not worth it. Even with Necromage, 100 Alchemy, and all perks in Alchemy tree - when was able to get a 33% (30% before equipping and after equipped become 33%, affected by Necromage) Fortify Alchemy for each of the 4 items - I can only reach a +25-30-ish% Fortify Enchanting (While a Fortify Enchanting Elixir can get you 25%).

You can try exploits like the restoration-loop to get the number you want (google restoration loop). It would take some experiments and it can gets complicated (Like, with two 25% rings and one 13% hat - Guessing numbers, exactly like how REAL alchemy is supposed to be :D ), because the number goes up exponentially.

For examples: After hours of experiments, I was able to make a potion of 1200% Fortify Enchanting, which yields me an enchanted effect of 400% Fortify Alchemy (To make things fun fair on Legendary difficulty). But putting this ring on only still got me 20%ish Potion of Fortify Enchanting... while yielding 8 minutes Paralyze potions, %200 Fortify Health Regeneration, Ravage Mana and Mana Regeneration of 300 and 100% respectively (render the most powerful mages in Skyrim completely useless in one hit), and Fear potions that affect creatures and people up to level 135.

Beth really did a good job keeping Fortify Enchanting and Fortify Alchemy down to prevent overpowering your characters... Until the Loop comes along, that is.
