Fortify Magicka

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 6:57 pm

I recently acquired the Staff of Hasedoki, which grants 75 fortify magicka "permanently" among other things when using Wakeem's Game Improvements. The staff suits my character well so I have been using it as my primary weapon. Unfortunately, it seems that my magicka arbitrarily shows as roughly half of what it is, both for current and total. This happens when I load save games with the staff equipped, alt-tab out, get hit, etc. Fortunately I can remove the staff and re-equip it, but this is a pain and I'm pretty sure I lose current magicka overall when doing it.

I also use Galsaiah's Character Development, which could, in combination with the staff, cause this issue I imagine.

Is there a solution to this issue other than carefully watching magicka and re-equipping every few minutes?

Thanks for your time.

Fortifying Magicka only ADDS more magicka for you to use. It doesnt increase your total maximum magicka (like the appropriately named Fortify Maximum Magicka :P )

So by adding 75 magicka, you can use that up, but to get it back again you will always need to re-equip the staff since that chunk of 75 wont regenerate by itself (in any way: sleeping, or otherwise).

The only way to increase magicka total is by: a. increasing your intelligence, b. getting under the effect of a fortify maximum magicka spell or c. levelling up.

So..

Not really.

If you were mad keen about THAT staff, then you could always crank out the construction set and change the spell "Fortify Magicka, 75 pts" to "Fortify Maximum Magicka, 75 points".

Gl :foodndrink:

Edit: Could you post the exact effects of the staff under Wakim's mod. I couldnt find the changes he made in a convenient list anywhere.
Edit2: As for the numerical showing of the magicka, by fortifying only it will remind you like this: "175/100 Magicka". Shows that youve got 75 'bonus' magicak to use before you start tapping into your reserves, AND that you cant regenerate it through any conventional means

I know how it works ordinarily, though I appreciate your explanation. There is a bug going on here.

Example:

My basic maximum magicka is around 1100. I cast a few spells and it's down to 1000.

The staff bug kicks in.

My base maximum now shows as 550, and I have 4 or 500 of that to spend. I can remove the staff and it shows the number right, but I still am losing mana doing that each time (probably because removing it takes away the 75, then adds it back after restoring my roughly doubled pool), and it happens a LOT.

Here are the stats of the staff:

Resist Magicka 50%
Fortify Magicka 75 points
Fortify Conjuration 10 points

I also am using the Robe of Drake's Pride, which fortifies intellect, so maybe there is an interaction there. All I know is that the staff is at the heart of it, and it's a major pain to play with it. The stats are perfect for my high elf conjurer/enchanter though so I would hate to have to ditch it.

OHhhh right right right right right right right. Sorry, forums bring out the "assume everyone has no idea what they are doing" in me :D and i should have read it closer

Yes ive actually heard about this sort of glitch before.

I guess you've tried it without any other fortifying gear (like D's Pride).. run around without anything but the staff and see if it has same effect.

I dont have a readily available answer to this problem, expect it would come down to either a gear or mod combo that doesnt work.

If your using lots of fortifying gear, i always find that equpping the Fort. Attribute stuff before the Fort. Skill and Stats gear reduces the likelihood of fail

It is definitely the staff. I found the cell I need to modify in Wakeem's to edit out the Fortify effect. I noticed that I can add Fortify Maximum Magicka instead if I want. Will that fix the problem or just make it bad in a slightly different way? Assuming that is a no go, what is a good alternative of equal power?
