Forts and ruins repopulating with enemies?

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 6:02 pm

So I took a quest from someone in Windhelm. Told me to kill the bandit leader at Gallows Rock. Thing is, I've cleared out Gallows Rock already in another quest. I came back and now I find the same type of enemies (Silver Hand), and chests have been restocked and stuff. Is this a glitch due to Radiant Story, or do these things really get repopulated even though you've cleared them?

Edit - The problem is, the named bandit whom I've killed in the previous quest respawned, so I ended up killing the same exact guy twice. This is a glitch with Radiant Story, and hopefully it will be patched.

Im sure it is Radiant story doing that. I haven't seen anything get repopulated unless there was a quest given to me for that area. Seeing how there is unlimited quests, the only way that can happen is if places get repopulated.

Ok, it's definitely a glitch. The same named bandit whom I had already killed from the previous quest was back alive. Well that svcks. I was hoping they repopulated in a realistic way but it seems radiant story causes glitches. Anyone else experience this?

It's part of the game, added by Radiant Story. You could be sent to the same dungeon multiple times but for different quests.

Not a glitch, its meant to happen. I think it might have been Gallows rock as well, and the silver hand leader had respawned along with all the silver hand. And I wasnt doing a quest there.

Dungeons are supposed to respawn after some time. They're as much a resource as the herbs along the road and veins along the mountain.

If it's meant to happen, why do named NPCs respawn? They should be dead forever once you kill them. That part of it is a glitch.

Yes, dungeons and locations respawn after a rather lengthy time. I cleared out a bandit nest in a fort (not quest-related), and a few game-weeks later, the imperials had moved in.

Containers, NPC's and creatures are all supposed to respawn after a few in-game days.

Also Radiant Story may force respawns to trigger should you have the quest.

Bump. I want some answers on this. Is repopulating dungeons a feature, a glitch, or what?? Can it be patched?

Why does spawning caves need to be patched? This is an intended (and much needed) feature.

The problem is that named characters whom I've already killed are respawning. The mini-bosses are respawning even though they should be dead. I killed "Khev the Skinner" and I went back to the dungeon for the second time and he was resurrected. The A.I. in radiant Story is a glitched. They also shouldn't be sending me to places I've already been, unless that really is a feature, which I would be okay with, but I'm not okay with named characters resurrecting.

They are meant to be repopulated and the containers reset and refilled, so that you can continue to enjoy dungeon-diving, and Radiant Story is meant to add more flavor to it if you're looking for even more incentive.

Imagine if everything remained cleared out, it'd become pretty empty and desolate in a lot of areas, and just be dull, dull, DULL.

The adventure stops when you decide it stops.

Bethesda, please patch the respawning named characters! It's clear that this is a glitch. Those characters should respawn as "bandit chiefs" or whatever..not brought back from the dead.....
