More changes? I had just gotten used to the way the last update looked... Now to start the cycle all over again.

Some positive changes but:

Fonts must go, simple.
Whatever it was that allowed me to easily distinguish between normal posts and pined, please bring it back.
Resizing my browser window sometimes auto formats text to fit, sometimes it doesn't - or should that be, it works up to a point?
Has the space to left for user info and avatars increased? I feel that far fewer posts fit to a browser page.. Please fix if so.
I do appreciate the Topic Preview functionality but I hate the little graphic that tracks my mouse pointer. Yes, hate is the right word, the blinking as the mouse moves is not only distracting it also make me nauseous. Am I the only one who has serious problems with 'pop-up on mouse tracking'?

General note:
There was a time when the display of content on the internet was highly customisable, anyone notice a trend of removing user customisation over the past few years?

Feel sick, must go :bolt:

Its that whole Apple attitude of "we're promoting our lifestyle through our graphics, and you must bend to our will" thing.

I just checked, seems they forgot to add the TES V section?

And can I just ask... Why was this update necessary? The last one wasn't too long ago, and the forums are just getting more cumbersome and uglier with each update. Although I assume most of the graphical atrocities will be sorted out soon.

There is a section in the user profile that says when and to what usernames were changed to and from. But I guess we still cant actually change them? I've had this name for years now and im still not liking it :brokencomputer:

Otherwise the boards look alright, they arnt too different. Wish there was rep for posts though, thats always a useful feature and prevents spammers. Though mods are good at preventing spam here.

I need to re up my avatar dont I

I like the new mini editor and especially the new control bar.

Trying out the new buttons in editor.

Besides 'Group:' it will say in green, Moderators, and admins will have in red, Administration.

Just noticed at the side of every topic title, the little preview button that shows the first and last post in every topic.
Awesome fature. ^_^

I also noticed that the theme looks much better on my Pc screen than my laptop; the higher contrast does wonders for the background making it far darker, and the text easier to read.
The font is still kinda' annoying though. The font we use when we type a reply is much better than the one displayed in said post after it has been submitted.

Mods have green names. Beth employees have red and Obsidian staff have orange names

Edit: While the above is partly true. An easier way is just to look at the Group tag underneath the avatar picture

If it isn't broken, don't fix it. I understand the need for forum maintenance but changing the skin wasn't really necessary.

It seems it was a general thing with IPB, namely, you get the whole thing in one. What you see is likely the result of Beth's IT department trying to stop the place looking ugly as sin.

One thing I don't like is that the quote box and the edit box look almost the same at first glance. Makes me keep scrolling back up the page because I think someone added another part to their post.

See what I mean?

Search has been massively improved.

That alone makes the change worth it and for me at least this one runs as smooth as silk. I likes it.

Yeah, I can understand people not liking the new look - there are always lots of people who don't like the new look when they update the forums, but in my personal opinion the new features make it worthwhile.

Oh yeah search is a lot better. The only thing that would make it better still would be if there was no 60 seconds flood control when you search something but not a single hit was found (when you make a typo).

Or just no flood control for searching full stop. Seriously, does it serve any real purpose? Other than annoying people when they can't find what they're looking for first time? Would probably cut down on a lot of unnecessary new threads being created.

Flood Control is there to minimize the load on the servers. This isn't just important for busy periods but it also limits the ability to preform DOS attacks by spamming the search function. It would be fairly easy for someone to make a script which sends hundreds of search requests a second in order to overload the servers if there was no flood control.

I thought the last update really slowed things down. It's not connection but rather the time it takes to render a page and I haven't even turned on JavaScript yet!

Upon seeing the lack of a TES V forums, I suddenly heard millions of voices screaming until they were silenced.

Meh I don't really care about the looks.

What svcks is when I browse it on my Blackberry, which I do everyday waiting for the bus for 45 minutes at school. The last forum was a mere 30kb to load the Fan Fiction page, now its up to 130kb every time I refresh it. It's brutal I tells ya!

I'm sure its been mentioned but that large black box around the user-names in a topic is somewhat distracting and... well, large.

And what are notifications? (next to my name at the top of the page?
