meh

no cut off line between sticky post and non sticky post.
Black box around profile info and avatar seems unnecessary

If you can't trackit down, this should help you find your old avatar

http://www.gamesas.com/avatar.php?member_name=

I'll try to track down some notes on changes for the forum -- but like previous updates, we needed to upgrade the forum to the latest version for security reasons.

Feels strange, I'll eventually get used to it though.

Now I miss the old old forums even more. Is one of the fixes perhaps making it so that logging in on a different computer doesn't make me have to relog on the first computer?

I'll love it once a new stylish script makes it die.

What has been fixed?

Exactly.

And I think it was Lady Nerevar who mentioned it... Bethesda really needs to get rid of the 2001-era pen-and-paper rpg background. If their goal is what they seem to be trying to do--that is, turn the forums into a sleek wordpress-style imitation, they need to go all the way or not at all.

DarN come save us!

I think there should be a clearer distinction between pinned and normal threads.

What has been fixed?

Search has been massively improved.

That alone makes the change worth it and for me at least this one runs as smooth as silk. I likes it.

It would appear that animated Gifs are not allowed by default; and are not considered valid images.
(this can be changed riiight? )

Emotes are missing, and many [more than before], have bad matte colors. (causing the white border fringe.)

The .png and .gif problem with avatars is being checked out - my bear doesn't wink any more. :(

I love the new look.

Its not quite that either-or, but yes. The current paper background is horribly pixelated, and doesn't fit at all with the 'wordpress-style' grays. However, if the background was higher quality and the grays were light tans, olive-y greens, or perhaps a nice deep red, it could make for a nice sleek theme that still has some of that traditional RPG quality.

So I used the search and ....well I don't notice any difference.

I doubt reworking the search function required redoing the graphical aspect... <_<

Oh yeah search is a lot better. The only thing that would make it better still would be if there was no 60 seconds flood control when you search something but not a single hit was found (when you make a typo).

No more gif? Does that mean that The Bear no longer winks? :shakehead:

I'm not part of Beth's IT team, so I clearly don't know what exactly they did, but if it was a general software update it could all have been part of a package. A couple other IPB boards I frequent seem to have the same styling, just with different colors.

[edit] I miss the little dropdown box that came up when clicking someone's name by a post.

It lags as I scroll...
Why the enormous area for player profiles?
And no TESV category! >=(

Just checked out the iPhone(general smartphone even maybe?) version of the site. It looks better than this, better than the former iPhone version and as good/better than the old normal site, although with a slimmer look. Why not expand that one to include Topic Description, floating top bar etc?

Of course, that one is now slower as well...

Would it be possible that we get slightly modified IP.Board skin? Just painted in some darker colour.
Please?

Other than this, all else seems fine to me.

Edit: And I'd like the "GO" button back next to the forum jump.

This seems a bit like fixing the table's wobbly leg by cutting it off, though. Search is a bit better now but I haven't done anything that needs a lot of searching yet so I've to see just how well it works now.

I like it. It seems easier on the eyes than the last iteration. Even though not much has changed. The only thing I do hate is the parchment style background which is just too much contrast with the black. Go all the way because this 50/50 thing doesn't work as a poster said earlier. The last one made my dizzy and sick for 3 hours until my brain got used to it, and even then it never did look all that good. So since none of that bad stuff happened I'm okay with it, that or my brain has permanently been scarred by it and will never be the same. :P
