Oh yeah search is a lot better. The only thing that would make it better still would be if there was no 60 seconds flood control when you search something but not a single hit was found (when you make a typo).

Or just no flood control for searching full stop. Seriously, does it serve any real purpose? Other than annoying people when they can't find what they're looking for first time? Would probably cut down on a lot of unnecessary new threads being created.

Gamgee, you can block the background with AdBlock if you use it.

I like it. It seems easier on the eyes than the last iteration. Even though not much has changed. The only thing I do hate is the parchment style background which is just too much contrast with the black. Go all the way because this 50/50 thing doesn't work as a poster said earlier. The last one made my dizzy and sick for 3 hours until my brain got used to it, and even then it never did look all that good. So since none of that bad stuff happened I'm okay with it, that or my brain has permanently been scarred by it and will never be the same. :P

The old stylish script still sort of works (It pins the floating top bar and fixes the colour), so you could use that?

Ok, there are some good things. I just don't like the fact that I will have to redo my theme. The fact that I hit 50% CPU (i.e. Maxing out one entire core) when I scroll with the default theme is just annoying. While my computer isn't great, it really shouldn't be doing that <_<

However, the IP Board theme works. I may just use that. I
Ohh, and the IP Board theme doesn't have the following thing :)

(If the person who designed the theme reads this, I think it looks amazing. Just not to my tastes and my computer isn't good enough)

Am I blind, or does post count no longer show in the profile?

I hope they fix the .gif problem soon. My avatar is so still and lifeless... :shakehead:

In code boxes some of the code shows up in a black font on a dark background so it is very hard to see. Since much of the code ends up like this it makes it unreadable at times.

The avatar issue with .gifs and .pngs is annoying and there is no way to just link to them on other sites which also poses a small issues.

And stated above the black boxes around the avatar and profile info isn't nessesary. But is not a huge deal.

Other then those issues it seems that the new look is nice, though I will have to try it on my Droid 2 later to see how well it looks in mobile view.

EDIT: You currently can view it by clicking the incredibly esoteric "pop-out" icon next to a poster's username.

So I used the search and ....well I don't notice any difference.

I think after you use it a bit you will notice it's better. You can now for instance choose if you want to search "topic titles" or "posts". For me that alone is worth this entire upgrade. Also, you can do in thread searches and in section searches.

I doubt reworking the search function required redoing the graphical aspect... <_<

Well, it came as part of the upgrade so, it did require it.

I'm not part of Beth's IT team, so I clearly don't know what exactly they did, but if it was a general software update it could all have been part of a package. A couple other IPB boards I frequent seem to have the same styling, just with different colors.

[edit] I miss the little dropdown box that came up when clicking someone's name by a post.

I sort of miss those drop down boxes, but I am so very glad we have the option to pm a person from a post of theirs instead of going to their profile first. Nice.

My only wish would be for an old folks can't see skin to use but I can get a add on for my chrome for that I think.

Meh

Old one was better.
But I'm sure I can adapt this one as I did the last time...

...Seriously, guys? I'd just gotten used to the last update. :brokencomputer:

Also: I hardly have vision problems (well, when I'm wearing my contacts that is), but gray text on a gray background? I can barely read that. The thread text itself is almost okay, but the thread titles blend into the background so well I have to use entirely too much brainpower to pick out just one and read it. Forget trying to tell which threads have new replies and which don't. Please, Bethesda: think of the eyeballs. I don't need my vision getting any worse than it already is. :P

The .png and .gif problem with avatars is being checked out - my bear doesn't wink any more. :(

I love the new look.

Ah good, I'm patient.

I can wait

Overall I like it but I think the black section around the avatars is distracting.

Odd, mine is a dark brown background with white letters. Maybe I'm in an alternate world.

Very bright white letters in fact.

It feels odd at first, but that's expected really. I actually do prefer it to the last version, it's wider and more streamlined which is cool.
Still wishing there was a larger choice of themes, I do find the grey/black kinda' depressing.

Also, if I were to be really picky; i'd prefer the sidebar with peoples avatars and details to be just a tad smaller, I feel it takes up a little to much thread space. I'll get used to it.

I had to fiddle with my avatar a bit, I made it smaller, and had to change it to a Jpg file to get it to work, but hey it worked.
Don't see the point in having the 'photo' option under Profile settings; it just tells you that you can't have one.

Ugh, do not like. Every time you guys change it, it gets worse. The last one was tolerable, but this one....? I really don't know.

Also, the forum lags really badly. Letters don't appear for several seconds after I type them. Scrolling on the board index is worse. Really blows.

EDIT: Oh, and having to host my avatar on my computer seems like it means I can't use my old gamertag avatar. This just isn't my forum day.

Yeah, the zoom scaling is terribly limited as well.

I like it overall. Glad that the gif thing is being sorted out - I'll have to settle for maleficent for now seeing as Marla isn't allowed to smoke in here at the mo :)

I preferred the old one because of it's simplicity, but this is looks nice and I'm sure I'll adapt. For some reason my avatar is showing up a bit blurry, though. Maybe it's a sign that I should finally change it. :P

EDIT: One problem, though. I used to search my own name to see if anyone had replied to me so I don't have to go searching through every thread I've been in. It doesn't seem like I can do this anymore.
