Forum Update Feedback & Discussion

Odd, mine is a dark brown background with white letters. Maybe I'm in an alternate world.

Very bright white letters in fact.

Very strange. Are there skin options I'm not seeing somewhere?

http://tyraarane.riumplus.com/gallery/d/939-1/forumeyestrain.jpg All the forums that I've been to (Morrowind, CD, and Oblivion) look like that. I've been on the forums maybe fifteen minutes and my eyes are already feeling the strain.

Edit: Also, for about 30 seconds there clicking on any inter-forum links or refreshing pages sent me to the main page instead of where I was supposed to be. That was bizarre. :P

Apparently the forums are back up, for the most part at least. It seems the avatars aren't working (at least not for me)

I see an Avatar by your User Name, but when I went into my Profile settings, I couldn't find anything at all about using Avatars anywhere any more.

You actually need to grab a new avatar. To do that, you now upload the avatar.

Correct -- size restrictions are as follows:
File Size: 100kb, 90x120

So far, I can't find Where that is supposed to happen.

The avatar issue has been fixed now, although you may be forced to restart the browser for it to work.

Occasionally when I try to get to the CD through the TES forum it redirects me to the index board with a different URL.

Grey text for me too, even in the post reply box. http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/4817/newfourm.jpg.

I am finding this board hard to read now.

The font size is too large (and thin), which on a non-black background isn't great.
The main forums page where you choose the sub-board is much clearer thanks to the lack of paper effect background, an option to get rid of this would be a blessing.

The thread titles are too tall also, resulting in an information underload! I would like to see more thread titles at once.
ie it is inefficient to browse this forum thanks to lots of scrolling required (which is really, really slow btw) even on modern hi-res gaming setup.

My goodness, change makes some of you folks very cranky. And honestly, this wasn't as dramatic a change as the last huge overhaul. Some of the things will get sorted out and the rest, you might find you like them, or you'll just get used to them. Or, in the case of some of you, you'll do fancy schmancy stuff with scripts and stuff. :D

Ugh, do not like. Every time you guys change it, it gets worse. The last one was tolerable, but this one....? I really don't know.

Also, the forum lags really badly. Letters don't appear for several seconds after I type them. Scrolling on the board index is worse. Really blows.

EDIT: Oh, and having to host my avatar on my computer seems like it means I can't use my old gamertag avatar. This just isn't my forum day.

After the last update, I couldn't use my other computer anymore due to the lagging and the top bar wouldn't let me log in due to overlapping fields? Hope you have better luck.

As to anything else about the update, just another vote for some way to distinguish pinned from other topics

I'll get used to everything else

That's quite impressive. Some sort of crazy timetravel in which you created an account for the site before it existed and grandfathered it in?

Meh I don't really like the new look (I was just getting used to the other one why change it again?)

I also had a few problems when clicking on "last" when navigating through a thread since it redirected me to http://www.gamesas.com/ rather than the last page of the thread. I tried it with other threads though and they worked and haven't had problems with any weird redirects after having the initial problem in this thread.

Also the thread heading fonts aren't very bright and the poll logo is hardly visible: http://img715.imageshack.us/img715/4192/forumus.jpg

Looks good, the posting interface is far better and actually looks rather smexy. However the forums don't scale in windowed mode as they should and used to, however excluding that gripe, all is well.

I hate it. But what good is saying it? It won't go away, and we'll all get used to it until the next big change. I just don't get why you need to constantly change the look of the site when there's nothing wrong with it. Don't fix what ain't broke, or you're gonna piss everyone off.

And where the hell is the "go" button next to the drop down list of forums? I used that all the time to get back to CD and refresh at the same time. Bring it back.

But I hate change! And I want these kids off my lawn! ;)

...I kid. I'm sure I'd get used to the new skin. My real gripe is the fact that the current color scheme is causing eye strain. Edit: And in some cases completely unreadable, as the codebox in http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1146893-forum-update-feedback-discussion/page__view__findpost__p__16762209 will demonstrate.

Well, it looks all right (with this that is)
.idx_stats_number {font-family: sans-serif !important;}li.newposts {float: none !important;}
:P

But I'm a little curious over how it manages to eat 50% of my CPU

Edit: Heh, syntax highlighting!
