Forum Update Feedback & Discussion

OH GOD MY EYES.

But they'll get used to it.

That statement was made even more hilarious by your avatar. :P

I quite enjoy the new forums. No performance issues for me... I find the box around *edit* and avatars to be a tad overdone. And as others have mentioned stickied threads should be sectioned off or something.
I'll say type this! The first thought I had when I logged on this morning was "Damn, that's sixy."

Try re-saving it to your computer. That worked for me.

Seems a little choppy and the line between posted and active topics is non-existent.

This.

Fix it. :obliviongate:

Also when I quote text, it leaves space even though it never did before.

For example,
Hi

Hi

I usually cut some things out of member's posts so this could get a bit annoying.

When i'm sending a message to someone and I hit Use full Editor in IP mode, everything closes and i'm taken to the board index.

Been out all day and wondered what I'd find when I came online.
I voted the third option. It's nicer, but it's a bit laggy when it scrolls. I switched to the IP Board skin and that's really smooth, but I don't like the bright colours. IP Board in greys and blacks would be alright :)
The old forum was probably just as laggy but I got used to it and hardly noticed after a while.

Oh well, I guess I'll get used to this one, too :)

Edit: Oh, can't we link to custom avatars anymore? The one I want to upload is only slightly bigger than the 100kb allowed. That's why I prefered linking as it resized it automatically.

I propose we all look at old screenshots of the forums, and use them to highlight exactly what is and what isn't an improvement. Functionality need not come at the expense of aesthetics and ease of use.

Ya too? I though there was something wrong at my side of the comp every day for the past month. Then again, I went to TV Trope every time that happens. : P

Also, the new search system is kind of bad. What if the topic have more that one "search word" in it?

Some of the smileys seem to have white boxes around them, I think the avatar boxes are a little prominent, and I also think there should be a visual/clear split between stickies and normal threads. Otherwise it's alright. I like the expandable drop down box option of the subforums on the main page.

Further to all this, I like the way the old forums at least had a way of getting to Community Discussion without having it bookmarked...

Good work. But in a month the forum customisation threads will have dropped away again. As has been said, we already mod their games, we shouldn't have to mod their forums too. Unless they want to add in a "Forum Mods" sub-forum?

That said, it's been less than a day and their admins are probably still sleeping. WAKE UP AND GET TO WORK!

Aye, I still forget...and go to post something at 2:28 AM EST, and wonder why it hangs up when I hit "Add Reply." :ahhh:

And now this is amusing...I've got a sizable Ignored Users list, and from time to time use the "View this post anyway" link.

Under this setup, the forums have a new trick: letting the page expand to show the post when I do that, but not moving the "click here to post" editor window in the process- so I've run into several occasions where I find the "click here..." editor pane blocking a post. :banghead:

Its the same as the Nexus forums...
As others have mentioned, the black boxes around the 'Edit' button and the user info are extremely annoying, and interrupt the gray user bar thingy (which I have never liked anyway). Also, has it gotten brighter? My eyes feel tireder after looking at the forums.

EDIT: Oh, the IP Board is much easier on the eyes, but still extremely ugly.

I dislike this edit tab being essentially turned into "HEY! LOOK! THIS GUY EDITED HIS POST! HE PROBABLY MADE A TYPO LOLOLOL!"

When I make a typo, I like to keep my mistake barely noticable thank you very much :stare:

I know, but around here, I've met the kind of people who consider anything you say moot if you make a typo.

Then theres those time you find the typo but just before your able to fix it someone has quoted your response and your typo is forever seen for all. And then they see the change you tried so desperately to make and laugh......

Many times this has happened to me. Maybe not the laughing but I can be paranoid if I want to be.
