Forums Navbar Header Fix

Post » Thu Jan 06, 2011 3:17 pm

Stumbled on an idea and tested it out:

Issue: Unable to navigate through forums by use of Navbar Headers.
(For example: If I'm in this thread and I click 'Community' under the banner to get into the board, clicking on it doesn't do anything.)

Found a fix for this issue if you are using Windows XP or Windows 7 64-bit and have the option to open up Internet Explorer in either 32-bit or 64-bit. I am running Internet Explorer 8 and have found that in the default IE shortcut we see in our QuickLaunch Toolbars will open the 32-bit version of IE8. This is the version that the Navbar Headers do not seem to work in. I happened to open IE8 in 64-bit, and all of a sudden they work. Is it possible that this website was written on a 64-bit machine or running on a 64-bit server?

If you have the option available, please open IE in a 64-bit environment, and let us know if this helped. Not sure if this option is available in Chrome or other browsers.

Note: Seconday issue: Although the links now work in the 64-bit version, the font is cut off horizontally a bit below center. May need to change font size or expand height value in the affected
.

Hopes this holds true for others, just trying to help. If it works, please pin thread.Image

So you're saying that the navbar doesn't work in IE8 32-bit but does work in IE8 64-bit?
