Found the location of Sierra Madre in the Mojave

Post » Sun Aug 09, 2009 3:46 am

So I dont know if this has been posted yet, but I found out where exactly in the Mojave wasteland the Sierra Madre is located.

before I went back to the bunker, I put down a marker (to be more specific, I marked Puesta del Sol South). Yes, I actually use that thing, lol. Anyway, apperently the Sierra Madre casino is somewhere to the far west

Umm...what? I see a marker. How do you know that is where the Sierra Madre is?

I put a marker in the Puesta del Sol South area while I was there, then the marker was still there on my map when I went back to the Mojave

I left a marker there, and it was just in the Brotherhood bunker when I returned.

I actually left one in Puesta del Sol south, near the ruined Cafe

Ok, now it makes sense. Should have said that originally. I'm gonna do the same and see if it corresponds to your location.

Has anyone tried using a jetpack mod to get out there?

Ok so I saw this post then tried it myself. And I got the same position for the marker. I used a jetpack mod and a cheat for unlimited fuel to get out there. There is just a door facing the ground that says "Exit the Wasteland". I tried to open it but it says door cannot be opened. Then I tried deactivating Dead Money and going there and the door is not there anymore so it is certainly related to dead money.
I wonder if there original plan was to have us actually find the sierra madre in the desert. If so that would have been awesome.

Wow, really? Can you post a pic of it? also, you do know you can select the door with the console and unlock it?

The door is not really locked it does not go anywhere even if you open it with the console (that is just a message that it gives). that door is just there probably from their original plan. I think the old version used to be where the Sierra madre was actually a lost city in the desert. But I guess they did not want to have to make so much more desert so they probably just had you teleport there through the bunker.

I was curious so I checked this out too and I must say that the door is very interesting. I think Pete is right in that it was indeed intended for the casino to be discovered in the wasteland.

Actually I don't know if anyone else found it but you can actually get back over to DeadMoney after you complete it. There is a door underneath the BOS abandoned bunker that leads you there. for the PC users all you have to do is activate "tcl" so you can clip through the floor. But in order to return to the Wasteland, you have to use console command "activate" on the gate to return.
I have been going there and back to kill off more Ghosts with the AntiMaterial Rifle.. :D

Plus I used the Geck to move the door to an easier location to activate it and I made the Ghosts respawn and some of the containers...

So ya, yaay now the game is worth while that I can return there and such and still have fun...

This makes sence because Sierra Madre is an actual town west of Vegas

So the fact that it's only a door in the Mojave Wasteland would mean that all of Sierra Madre is actually an indoors location, even the open parts? That's some interresting trivia.

And now that i think about it, it makes all kinds of sense as there's no day/night cycle in SM.

Actually there is, sort of. At least I noticed it when looking at the windows in Vera Keyes' room in the suites section.

Edit: Thanks for the info on the gate in the desert and door back to SM, going to look into this today :)

that doesnt show you the location of the casino, you could do the same thing when you were in point lookout in FO3 and it would just just a random marker on the map of the capital wasteland

Sierra Madre is in its own exterior worldspace, that door in the wasteland could have possibly been an idea to have the sierra madre in the wastelands, but its not there any longer nor is it attached to it in any way. Neither is the Sierra Madre an interior cell, it just doesn't have a day/night cycle.

I'm on PC and tcl doesn't get me to the door. I keep looping back up through the floor. I've been using a mod to get back to DM.
