Foundation for a successful game

There are many things that can make or break a new mmo, but I feel that the following 3 are infact the foundation stones that all other game-play / Mechanics systems need to stand on...

1. Rock solid server / client stablilty.

2. Tight, fluid character controls and animations.

3. Realistic Development team feedback.

If gamesas can nail these 3 things, they can hit the ball right out of the park. Otherwise they will be fighting up hill all the way.

Just my thoughts.

Totally agree.

Loads of MMOs out there failed to do that in past (and present). No matter how good the idea is, or the hype, or just about anything, when game comes to release stage, majority of potential consumers will want those 3 things when they buy the game.

I agree with all 3 points. The first is a bit obvious, but without it there's no point in trying.

As it's only in Beta animations won't be perfect and controls will need tweaking, but they rely on consumer feedback for these things, so lets hope they employ more people to read the giant cascade of fans that are going to be sending in suggestions, etc.

Development team feedback is a hard thing to do in reality. The Dev's are usually busy with a ton of game work - coding, modelling, scripting, animations, textures, and more and more things keep being added to the list. It gets to a point where feedback is hard to do - but if you don't get any Developers speaking to the community they may lose faith.

Just my two cents. Goooooooood Morning Vietnaaamm!
