FPS problems with water

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 7:54 pm

Hey everyone,

I just reinstalled Morrowind for the first time on my notebook and also installed MGSO. At first I had a very low FPS because my notebook isn't that strong with respect to hardware but I managed to get my FPS up to around 25 by lowering/disabling some settings. Now I only have one problem left and that is water. If I look in the direction of big masses of water (Seyda Neen) my FPS drops to around 3-4. I have tried everything, even the lowest possible resolution and settings, which boosts my normal FPS to over a hundred but water still makes the game almost unplayable. It's gotten to a point where I get killed by a small slaughterfish because I can't properly defend myself.
Any idea on how I can fix this problem?
Thanks in advance

p.s.: It's strange but I can play Skyrim without any FPS problems on my notebook, it's only the water in Morrowind that's giving me trouble...

have you tried changing anything in your ini file? http://mw.yacoby.net/Tuts/IniTut/Initut.htm you can use for reference. Go down to the [Water] settings, and try changing a few at a time to see if any of them make a difference. Be sure to make a backup of it before you save any changes.

Thanks, I'll try it out later when my girlfriend leaves me alone :D

Edit: Nothing I did with the .ini helped. Any other ideas, anyone?

Try running the launcher then go to options and disable pixel shading.
