So, I've got and HP AMD quad core with an ATI 5770HD, so I know my computer can run a game as old as Morrowind. I even had the same problem before I upgraded the graphics card. But when I start Morrowind as soon as the title screen starts to come up it drops to 1 FPS. If I wait it out and start a game it will hover right around 5-10 FPS. I have no idea why this is happening and can't find anything online to help me. Any suggestions?

I have the same problem after installing a Nvidia Geforce 6200 Graphic Card, Game worked fine untill then.

I kinda have the same thing happening to my laptop im on atm. on the starting animation (Bethseda Softworks" thats bits fine, then as the animation starts on the menu (orange screen) it takes ages for the work "Morrowind" to even show up and when it does start its like at 1fps. on the menu my mouse is jumping and not running smoothly.

then i start "New Game". the Intro vid runs fine, then as it gets to the game im at like 1fps again and its realy jumpy.

if you find anything please post as it seems quite afew are expering this
