FPS

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 6:16 am

Hi

I already had this game on Xbox but we all know the only real way to play it is on PC, so i bought it through Steam. The problem i have is it seems to be a bit laggy.. I'm assuming it's my FPS. I've turned all my in game settings down but it doesn't seem to have helped much. Are there any ways i could increase my FPS, maybe some PC settings or something?

I'm actually quite bummed about this, i was really excited to finally play the REAL version:P I have quite a few other games that i don't have problems with that i can even play online. And i can run World of Warcraft fine on average settings with perfect FPS, so i'm hoping it's not my pc.

Any help appreciated:)

what are your specs exactly?

To find out go to start > search run > click on run > enter dxdiag > specs should be there most importantly your video card in display

Also, does anyone know why my FPS dips at seemingly random times? I will be playing along just fine, then all of a sudden my FPS drops down to 5.. :pinch:

If it's in Markarth then apparently there's some issue with shadows or something all being rendered on one core of your CPU..

that's due to Beths poor optimization methods. That is if your FPS is above ~50 the majority of the time. If your at 30fps or close to it such is due to those drop zones having more to render. I experience the same thing although luckily never goes below 30

For now I get a lousy 20FPS most of the time, but after performance mods kick in I'll probably be getting closer to 30 :)

Never played an up-to-date game with good performance. Always was a few years behind.
I grew up in a recession-stricken home... I'm content with less.

I would say this game is exceptionally optimized, as this runs for me better than NV without performance-improving mods.

well their's your problem..

If the laptop isn't built for gaming (from a gaming laptop sites such as Alienware or MSI, or similar) it won't run games of today very well. WoW isn't an demanding even when it was released due to its age you can play it decently

@Pistolero

I wish such was true but when I have a rig that should be able to crush Skyrim into the ground get anything at 40fps without even 20% of my card being utilized its not the case. I would understand Battlefield 3 dropping me that much due to its actually heavy on computers with highest settings but not Skyrim that hasn't improved for 6 years.

Do you only have an Intel card? Cos if you dont' you need to force the game to use the dedicated one in the graphics settings. I had to do this because it was only showing the Intel card in the settings. Also, you might have to play in windowed mode if the laptop can't handle full.

That right there is your problem. So much for the "real version" eh?

It uses Intel HD Graphics.

I speak from experience when I say that Intel graphics cards are an absolute joke. If your other specs are sound, I'd consider buying something new to replace it.

What's your Processor and how much RAM do you have ?

If you have 4GB RAM and Core 2 Duo or better, then i don't know the problem... but you have less than 4GB and a worst processor, then this is the problem..

I'm actually running Skyrim with:

- Nvidia GeForce GTX 460

- Intel Core 2 Duo CPU 2.33GHz

- 3,12GB RAM

And it runs smoothly in the High Settings, althought, the only city that the games get a bit laggy is on Markarth.. other than that, couldn't run better. ^^

I run with an AMD Radeon HD.
Got awesome graphics, but some locations lag. Markarth and Riften mostly.
It got even worse with 1.3.
My FPS went down by about 5-8.

And I await the official 4GB fix next week, the unofficial got ruined by 1.3.

2x Intel Pentium P6100 @ 2.00GHz
4096 RAM

I'm going to blame my Intel Pentium HD Graphics card that unfortunately is integrated, so if i want to update it i'll have to get a whole new laptop.

I think your processor is the problem.
I run on 3,4 GB quad core and still got problems.
Bethesda got to release an AMD processor compatibility patch.
