Francesco's Leveled Creature-item mod

Post » Thu Sep 02, 2010 1:28 am

Am not absolutely sure but i know loot and treasure can be made to appear more or less in the game world with a console command that brings up a menu so there may be one for creatures. Dont know if this info is in the readme or only online. It was one of the last great things Frans did for his fabulous work to give the player just about total control of what they want in their own game world.

Its been awhile since i played Frans so it was kind of funny the other day when i was walking up a hill and got startled as i gazed up and saw a Guar running by chasing a wolf. I didnt stick around to see if it caught the wolf per chance it might turn around and acttack me if it was one of the more unfriendlier varitey :D

Sheesh i didnt realise how much FRANS and OOO had in common. I thought OOO was the only overhaul with trapped chests so it was a startling numbing moment when i opened a chest and it turned out booby trapped :shocking: Fortunately my characters health was high enough to withstand the traps damage.

Yeah! It's perhaps the best part of the mod. My Magic Item frequency is set at -85% which means I almost never see a magical weapon...which makes it very special when I do find one. :) No other mod can be tailored in this fashion as far as I'm aware.

Brings back the mystery and sense of unknown arcane rare magic to Tamriel with a creepy supernatural ambience.
It would be pretty cool if something like this was implemented in TES V. Sort of a more detailed difficulty slider that also deals with item frequency aswell as things like texture colors of items so the player can do these things instantly ingame instead of messing with the construction set. Just hit a color slider in the options menu for a certain weapon or armor and voila purple mithril armor to go with that pink sword :D

Another cool thing in a recent game after not playing Frans for awhile was being scared senseless when a skeleton i had just killed sneaked up behind me and almost killed me. I had totally forgotten Frans also has reanimating dead similar to Martigen's Monster Mod but handled slightly different from what i remember reading in both these great mods threads. I guess memory loss is a good thing when enjoying things all over again :)

Im thinking of restarting Oblivion again from a completely fresh install (which is something I sword I'd never do again, I hate trying to get everything up and running from scratch), so Im going through all of the mods I used and getting them again and noticed something with one of the add-ons for this. The Cryos Ordinator Indoril Armor mod doesn't appear on the nexus, when I click any link to that mod, it just comes up with "No file exists with that ID." while the bonemold helmet one works. Is there a fixed link for the Ordinator armor mod or is nexus just bugging out for some reason?

Pretty sure that is one of the many mods that has been demarbleized lately. Naturally right around the time Slof pulled her mods my HDD went blammo. No Robe Traders, No Horses, etc., etc., blargh.

I grew up with the motto if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything, so...

Too much negative energy had been sent towards AlienSlof by the vocal ignorant few which was effecting her health due to her incredible giving nature which made her more vulnerable to such acttacks. So thankfully for her sake and health she has retired at least for awhile but is still enjoying modding greatly and sharing her gifts amongst her close friends which is reinvigorating her health and the great person she is.

Having alot of fun with FRANS and being reminded how amazingly stable it is compared to other magnificent overhaul mods. So its great to have what is considered a finished product that is working so well. Of course Martigen's Monster Mod and Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul are adding mind boggling new things to their gameplay so its kind of scary to think those may one day become complete :P

Yeah I knew her stuff was removed before I left, what about the guy/his mod I mentioned though? And I would hardly call MMM (Oblivion) and OOO "incomplete"~

Is this the mod that adds the draconic cuirass to Matthias Draconis?

This and a few other armors/weapons are missing meshes. I've reinstalled, double, and triple-checked, but the meshes still aren't in-game.

I didnt mean incomplete i meant they just keep growing and growing :D After you think you've seen it all out of nowhere many things are added which blend in perfectly and one wonders how they ever got along without the new additions :)

Dont know about the "demarbelized" comment

Hi there,

May I ask quickly if this mod requires you to restart the game with a new character, or can you play your old , but with the enhanced leveling/scaling system?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers!

It is best to start a new character, but if using an existing character you should probably do two things:

1) Use the Wyre Bash "Update NPC Levels" feature - especially if you use Leveled Quests
2) Wait the X+1 days for other NPCs to respawn, where X is your respawn rate you chose during install of Frans

Thanks! What do you mean with Leveled Quests?
What will this "Update NPC Levels" thing do exactly? and why?
andwhy would I wait for other NPCs to respawn in a day, can't I do some quests in the mean time?

Thanks again! (thsi is a bit mumbo jumbo for me)

Wait. I download this, enemies have hundreds of new pieces of equipment, and I make a new character and search through Cyrodiil slaughtering and searching enemies in hopes that I find the armor I'm looking for???

Sweet.

Can I just go someplace and get the ones I want?

And what are the necessities for just getting the new armor/weapons and enemies?

(Too big of a post, but I read a lot)

Some npc's are now wearing the new armour and it is available to buy (usually one or two pieces) at the right level in the shops too

One of the optional (but I recommend it very very highly) part of Frans is "Francesco's Optional Leveled Quests.esp" and "Francesco's Optional Leveled Arena.esp". The first post in this thread describes what they do, but the gist is they make the NPCs and creatures you face while doing the main questlines (Fighter, Mage, Main, Arena) somewhat static, so you will need a higher level character to complete them, ie no Arch-Mage at level 3.

Anyhow, the problem is that many of these creatures/NPCs involved in the questlines may have already spawned in your existing game, and they are leveled according to Oblivion without Frans. What the Update NPC Levels feature of Wrye Bash does is go through all the NPCs in your save game and update them according to your loaded mods, so they will update with levels according to what Frans would give them.

If you want to ensure you get all the new Frans NPCs, creatures and items right away, you really should just wait for a respawn, in some area with no NPCs (like a player house).

Now, keep in mind you don't HAVE to do these things. The game isn't going to crash or anything. But you will not get to experience the mod as intended right away, and possibly in some cases you will never see some aspects of the mod.

Hopefully that ramble made sense....

First, the Update NPC Levels Feature in Bash should change all the NPC Levels to their new ones from the level list which Frans has edited. This should be done if you wish to use any of the optional esps under "Optional Files 1" at http://francesco823.tripod.com/index.htmll with an existing save game instead of stating a new game.(I'd bookmark that if you haven't already ;). Its the readme for Frans, you will get it later on installation though.) This is because otherwise there lvels will stay at their previously determined levels when you created your game.

You need to wait for one day for other NPC's respawn to have them replaced with their differently level counterparts from the eidted level list if they're not touched by Bash's Update NPC levels. It could be that doen't touch the random NPC enemies like bandits and conjurers, I'm not sure. Note that if you have changed how many days it takes for actors to repsawn - which Frans can do, and will by default unless you clicked on the option to stay at one day- you will have to wait longer to match that period of time. To be safe I'd personally wait the respawn time plus another day(e.g. two days for vanilla Oblivion I think), but I don't know if this is necessary.

Thanks for the info and interesting link Mythgaard :D :foodndrink:

For those who asked about restarting i always start a new game because its worth it. Even in the starter prison dungeon one is seeing the amazing changes FRANS adds from the get go like the buetiful new armors the Blades are wearing.

Theres tons of new armors, weapons, npcs, enemies, monsters,ai behaviour to enjoy so just take your time and explore the world of OBLIVION.

Oh and its very compatible with other mods and alot of Modders have been kind of enough to make compatible versions of their mods to work with FRANS like Corepc with his MARTIGEN'S MONSTER MOD he generously volunteered to work on once Martigen temporarily departed.

It did man, thanks.

Unfortunately I can't get wrye bash to work no matter what I do. A real pity.

Indeed I installed this mod to do something about this horrendous and ridiculous scaling.
I'm considerin restarting the game, which is a pity as I've done some good things already (about 2 days of gameplay).
besides, I like my custom character feats.
