Francescos calipers, slightly different

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 7:29 am

Hello!

I came back to Oblivion and reinstalled Francescos, as I always liked this mod.
Now I had been affected a couple of times by the calipers/nvde bandits bug before, but was able to fix it using the reset-loot-tables-fix.

But now I discovered something I hadn't been aware of before.
Sometimes when I open a chest there's a caliper inside.
I never thought much of it and left it there.
Now I re-opened a chest containig a caliper and the caliper had transformed to something else.

Having read a bit about the whole caliper issue, it seems that the script that transforms the caliper to something else sometimes doesn't fire the first time you open the chest.
Has anyone encountered this before and is there a workaround?
It is mostly an inconvenience, but it a bit strange...

I never had the 'calipers on bandits only' bug, instead I had exactly what you have now. Calipers started to show up in containers. At first they transformed to loot after I reopened the containers, but later they didn't transform anymore (at least not all of them). It became worse and worse until I found almost exclusively calipers. It started to happen on most enemies as well - all kind of enemies. I reset the loot tables, saved the settings, waited for x days and the problem vanished. Now I use a small mod I made that resets the loot tables every time you load a game. That works well for me so far, I've played for about 10 hours now and didn't find a single caliper (except for one or two that were 'real' calipers). Maybe it will work for you as well. No need to reset the loot tables manually every time you see a caliper and wait for x days.

It requires OBSE since it checks for loaded games. I suggest before you install it you should go to an empty cell and wait till cells respawn (by default 3 days), then save and load the game with the mod active.

Thanks for that!

Am I right that this means I will have to use Frans default settings though?

Yes, it will always reset all custom settings to default. Didn't think someone actually used any of those settings - I simply use extra hardcoe loot and that's it. It's not any different than the regular reset.
