Fraps isn't recording video

Post » Tue Jun 10, 2014 2:53 am

I downloaded the latest version of Fraps and I cannot record the desktop nor my Morrowind game, even though the yellow counter is running in the upper left corner during gameplay. I want to be able to record both my desktop and gameplay.

http://i.imgur.com/QeRE45T.jpg?1 is my General tab and http://i.imgur.com/yi0dMOk.jpg is my Movie tab. Do I keep this program open like that and just press F9 once? And to stop recording, do I press F9 again? My operating system is Windows 8.1.

I dont think Fraps will do that, i've used it and i'm sure it doesn't record desktop aswell, MSI Afterburner does Bandicam and Mirrilis Action! aswell, not sure if Dxtory does.

Well, i download it right now, and i report back....

I have Windows 8.1 as well. !!!

UPDATE:

See here, you have fraps open in front , and then you open a video file. As you see it shows 25 fps.

Now, if a hit F9 the counter goes RED, and it captures the video:

If you hit F9 again, recording stops. !!!

After that, you can find the video you recorded at this folder. (Default folder is C:\Fraps\Movies)

actually fraps can record desktop, and if you run morrowind in a smaller window it should capture the gameplay as well.

to do that check the "monitor Aero desktop" option.

I tried using OBS, which I really like so far, except I can't get it to record gameplay. I really just wanted something to record my desktop, which OBS does very well. I'm not clear on why Fraps is favored over other programs, though. It doesn't do anything when I press F9. It's like a sitting duck.

I stopped using Fraps a while ago in favour of Dxtory and Bandicam because you don't have to encode after recording with the latter due to Fraps massive file sizes, and since last year now i use Shadowplay all the time unless the game doesn't support it, i only record game play though not desktop,

i think Fraps has lost a lot of it's early popularity with the competition it now has.

maybe my mistake, for recording video from a game you should have it minimized !!!
