Freaking Lonesome Drifter : Fallout: New Vegas

i was travelling along that road and came across the drifters camp. I thought that i should kill him, take his gun, take his guitar and feed his body to the buzzards, as any traveler would think in this situation.

I took the shot, Critical Sneak Attack and his head went flying.

For some reason, even though i haven't got as far as Freeside yet, I'm now "Hated" in the strip. Is this really WAD*? I'm not even near the strip, ive not even discovered it and im sure they wouldn't miss him, or even had met him. I'm afraid to goto Freeside now because ill get shot at by the robots...

He's part of a quest "Talent Pool" and is a member of the strip faction. You can take his guitar by just simply running off with it and picking it up in a discreet location, and his pistol you can get through a 50 barter check when you hire him during "Talent Pool"

I do know all this, but killing him is so much funner, and i dont want to wait until the strip to get the 2nd best gun!

The thing im getting at is how could i lose so much strip notoriety if; i haven't discovered the strip, i haven't been to the strip and there were no witnesses (other then the one who got shot).

That's not WAD. I've one shotted him with no witnesses and been a-ok. You sure there wasn't a caravan nearby or something? There's been one around there everytime for me (maybe coincidence, maybe a designed one)

Regardless, not meant to happen. Rep shouldn't drop unless there are witnesses. If it's a one shot kill it shouldn't drop your rep.

Also, Lonesome Drifter cool. Take his magnum the nice way

I recruited him for the quest before my speech was high enough to get the gun. So I went to the lounge and crouched in a corner with a silenced 10 mm. He came on stage to perform and I dropped him like a bad habit. Nobody freaked out and no fame lost. Cool sounding gun and guitar = mine.

Its hard to find ammo for it. In my last game, i barely ended up with 200 bullets for it. With the Gun Runners dead, it seems thats all im gonna get.

Which still begs the question, why would you do that?

Not normally a good idea to eliminate one of the best ammunition/weapon vendors in the game.

if you didn't kill the vendortron then there's nothing to worry about, so get out there and use that Mysterious Magnum!
