No, it is not.

I believe (however do not quote me) that DOSBox is available for Mac.

You are quite right :)
As far as I'm aware dosbox is indeed available on mac. Also if it is not and you really want to play daggerfall you could always run boot camp.

Indeed you are. From a shallow stand point of course.

There are several things that draw me to Daggerfall. The 750,000+ generic NPCs are not in the list. Sure, a few are nice, but most are computer generated, don't do anything, and are extremely boring.

Playing that game with a console's controller would be an experience very similar to typing up a document in Word with a joystick. Playing that game on a TV screen would be like reading your daily newspaper by spreading it in the garden and then trying to see the pages on Google Earth.

Why wouldn't it be playable on a TV screen? TVs are big and the game's resolution is lower than most console games have been for a couple decades now. That part shouldn't be too much of a problem.

There's a lot of text to read. Books, dialogues, etc. Despite the low resolution, it won't be readable on a TV...

Of course it will. Have you even tried to hook up DOSBox and Daggerfall to a TV yourself?

The "body font" Daggerfall uses for journals, scrolls, and books isn't the most legible however. Try running the game using an HQ2(3)x or 2(3)xsai scaler - the characters get fairly distorted when interpolated. I for one prefer to simply use the normal2(3)x scalers as it's more authentic, but even then, it would be wise to use a "thicker" font if the game were to be played on a television screen. Look at what the Xbox version of Morrowind did, for instance. It's not really the size that's the problem, it's the serifs and curvatures of the characters.

Speaking for myself I think it isn't a coincidence that shortly before Bethesda released Daggerfall for free a new version of DOSBox was released that made it relatively easy to play the game. This would seem to confirm that the real obstacle here was tech support and crush of threads this forum would have experienced if Daggerfall was released for free while it was still difficult to set up. To be honest I had assumed nudity was also a major block, but apparently I was incorrect.
