No free save games - WTF!!!

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 1:54 am

I can't believe that Crytek has managed to royally screw up a PC game again after the fiasco with Farcry for PC not allowing free save games in the beginning. I regret having spent any money for this game. For me there is no fun in having to play through the same area of a game for several times just because I have overlooked something - or worse, because the situation is different every time I play it because the AI varies it, and I will inevitably be killed somewhere on my way to the next objective.

Dammit!

Oh well, it's the internet. What should I expect.

I hope a real lot of people complain and Crytek changes this, as they did with Farcry.

It is **** annoying I hate checkpoint saves. I could only hear "they aren't people anymore, they're a BIOHAZARD" so many times before I wanted to pull my hair out. I'd kill like 15 guys, and then decide to try doing something fun and crazy, and get punished for my creativity by having to play the whole level over again. I never had this problem with Crysis and I would always do superhero-like parkour stunts while playing on Delta difficulty.

I finally found out what killed me: In the mission where you have to find the subway entrance, after clearing the plaza and proceeding between the buildings, suddenly three mercenaries come around the corner from behind you, from where you had nobody left alive already.

This is one of the worst, cheapest and most illogical ways to make a game more challenging I can think of.

That's at least one cheap trick I will not fall to in this game again.

Tsk.

There are save points instead of Free Save as this is a direct console port, with no thought for changing or recoding anything for PC.

But when the opening screen says "Please adjust the slider until the soldier is almost invisable on your television" you kind of get the clue that they dont know anything about monitors lol.

If you want to mess around, wait until you get to a checkpoint and then go back and mess around. Otherwise lower the difficulty.

You want a challenge, play AvP on hardest setting, that has 5 checkpoints per campaign.

I hope free save will come in an update, or someone will make a hack to be able to save or whatever. It svcks terribly when you play occasionally for example while waiting for something, and you play say 10 minutes, and get to some nice location, and then someone knocks on the door and you have to go. Then you should click save, and when you come back, continue from where you left it. Now if you're unlucky, the last checkpoint was 20 minutes earlier and you have to redo a whole bunch of stuff again, and if you get interrupted again after 15 minutes, you're screwed and have to restart from teh checkpoint again.

Not everyone can sit down and play nonstop for 3 hours. And I don't want to "leave the game running on pause" if I go out for the rest of the day and want to play again in the evening.

FREE SAVE OR BUST!!!
