Freedom of Speech

Gonna link this, but it'll likely be deleted by morning (yay Blizzard).

Post 40 sums it up.

1st amendment reads:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Blizzard isn't Congress.

Btw that's me.

Yeah weird that people are online complaining and not playing that'd be a bit of hint.

Actually and since you said Mass Effect you want to see censorship of your criticism, try Bioware forums and the way they dealt with criticism of Mass Effect 3 and nothing comes close on this forum.

Since ive been i have seen tons of criticism dumped left right and center and, unless people start breaking the rules, and getting abusive, troll or flame, basically they let it go and i have not seen them go and put a boot on everyone's head if anything i feel free here to criticise their games if i feel i have a valid reason to do so, a mod may make a personal comment on my subject, but would only step in, in an official capacity if any of the latter happened which is fair and my expectation as i clicked the box i agree to the terms and conditions of this forum.

the reason you see topics get locked or moved is because they are typically either in the wrong sub forum, the negative critisism sparked a flame war between people who like the game and those who don't.

Regarding freedom of speech. You have the freedom say what is on your mind, but that does not mean any one has to listen. Purchasing a product doesn't give you any more right to say what ever you want on a website with out being censored or removed, than it would give you the right to go to their offices and not get thrown out for shouting your opinions at them in person.

::snaps out of a pleasant daydream of moderating the forums the way some posters believe we do, locking down anything negative no matter what it might be, and banning people on a whim, "just because"::

Um...no.

As long as people keep to the forum rules, negative posts and threads stay. Anything, postive or negative that breaks the rules gets attention from the mods. The negative stuff that includes sniping at other posters, disparaging snide comments about someone's intelligence, heritage or species will either be locked or disappear. At times we will lock threads to direct people to an established thread about the same topic. At times we will recognize a thread as nothing but flame-bait, and lock it before anyone takes the bait. People can not like the game. Its when the people who don't like the game insist their opinion is the only one and everyone has to agree with them constantly post the same thing over and over in everyone's threads that "criticism" gets locked.

If the mods were locking anything negative, quite a few of my own posts would have been deleted. Personally, I have issues with the voiced character idea, and find the game even less fun than I usually find FO games. I'm playing it when I want a break from ESO, and basically attempting to get through the main story without bothering with a lot of the side stuff. Whether something will get my attention enough to prompt a second run I don't know. At this point, its strongly tending toward the "No." side of things. Not even the "build your settlement" is enough to get me to like the game totally.
