Freespace 3 News. (minor)

It seems as though Volition wants to do Freespace 3.

Now this is a no brainer for gamesas. All they have to do is agree and take a cut of the profits.

I think there's a huge opportunity here. There hasn't been a solid space sim game released for years, and I think Halo: Reach's single space flight mission, which was fairly well-received, just goes to show that there is room for a space sim game on modern consoles. I think if a new FreeSpace game was released for X360 and PS3 with a great story, solid gameplay mechanics, and pretty graphics (which are all no-brainers from Volition), it would get eaten up, partially because there is nothing like it on consoles right now! Think about the opportunities not only for single player campaign, but multiplayer over Xbox Live and PSN - co-op campaign, head-to-head... it would be epic!

Sure, if FreeSpace went to consoles, it might have to be simplified a little bit, but not necessarily a lot. For a while I played FS2 with a Logitech Dualshock gamepad and loved it!. And I'm willing for a bit of simplification to happen if it means a new FreeSpace game that becomes really big!

If volition still seems quite keen to make Freespace3, and gamesas does not (although correct me if I'm wrong), why doesn't gamesas just sell the IP rights to Volition, as they could use the money, and they probably wouldn't have done anything with the rights anyway (again, correct me if I'm wrong), so, everybody wins.

Quite nonsense that JoySticks are not being used in games anymore, what about all them Flight simulators like Flight Simulator 2002, 2004 ,2006 aka X and them Jet Fighter games, HAwX you name it there are plenty new-gen games that can take advantage of a joystick Simulators included.

Freespace3 is a must have for the Joystick users and it should be made for PC only, it was neevr meant to even be a Console based game in the first place,a s it was the ultimate Space Combat Simulator you could get at it's time, Freespace2 was by far the best part made imo.

Yeah Iam in for a Freespace 2, I just hope it won't suffer like most new-gen PC" games do, as being abad console port, this is truly affecting the PC game industry, Test drive Unlimited2, Call of Duty Black Opsm Grand Theft Auto 4 and many more suffered the bad console port syndrome, Ireally hope if a Freespace3 will be made that it will be as good or even better than Freespace2, Gameplay is the main feature that has to be in the game place graphics and sound on seconds, most new-gen games lack gameplay and this is where they fail.

So iamreally hoping that Vollution like gamesas will put Game Play as main objective over graphics and sound, looks you name it, AI is also important , many new-gen games gave too simplified AI's , when doing a Combat flight simulator or space combat flight sim, the AI has to be realistic as possible as if you are flying a real simulator, then it can really get interesting.
