Freezing Everywhere in the game

Post » Sat Aug 07, 2010 1:13 am

I am over 20 hours into Fallout: New Vegas, and all of a sudden the game starts to freeze on me at random, and once i have to restart my system and try to play the game again, it just freezes in the same exact spot as before. I see that I am not the only one as there is stuff on various sites throughout the internet. Can you guys please fix this!!

I am 47 hours into the game and notice that it is freezing alot more than it used to. I am at the point where i need to decide who to side with and have done dozens of side quests. I think the best thing to do is save alot and plow through the game and trade it in for something else.

personally i am waiting for the patch to be released and if it does not fix all my major problems(vats freezing/vendor freezing/walking freezing/ ever loading-loading screen/companion disappearances/faction hostility/quest chain breaking for no apparent reason)
i will be sueing bethesda for my money back because why should gamestop lose money from bethesda putting out inferior products (and i know there is alot of blame game saying obsidian was to blame for this game being this buggy, frankly i dont care you put your name on this title and you will be help accountable

I have over 70 hours into the game and I have been experiencing the same issues. The freezing issues have been occurring from the onset of the game. There is no rhyme or reason to the freezing. I would suggest saving often and being patient.

There are a few things you can do to improve things,
#1 delete the patch
#2 Boot the ps3 in safe mode and pick then restore file system[its the 3rd option] this will clear corrupted data from where files are stored.

have about 55 hours on the game and the last 3 times I've tried to play it freezes up after about 25 minutes of play......it seems to freeze less when I disable my network settings. I 'm still frustrated about the freezing and the lack of support that the PS 3 is getting......

This isthe email I received from them 2weeks after emailing them......

Make sure you are running at least version 1.1.1.271 of the game. The version number appears in the bottom left corner of the screen after selecting "Settings", then "Display" from the options menu inside of the game. We've come up with solutions for the Xbox 360 save issue folks are reporting, along with a number of other issues(around 212) being reported. We're currently running final testing and certification on a comprehensive patch for all three platforms (PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3), so we'll have something available in the coming weeks. When we have more details, we'll let you know.

Don't know how but I have 1.1.0.261 version and nothing changed with the 1.01patch....perhaps its the Xbox version........

I'm on my 3th freeze of the night and on the next one I will put the game away and play Red Dead Redemption or go out and get AC Brotherhood....at least there will be no freezing.

I guess I wasn't clear, after deleting the gamedata. DO NOT REINSTALL THE PATCH just say no[circle]. So try deleting your gamedata again. When you try to reload the game it will say some data is missing[as its a post patch save] but just ignore it the game will be fine.
Also try restoring the file system. Its kinda like defragging your ps3's harddrive. It checks for corrupt or unusable data files and deletes them.

I see I'm not the only one getting frustrated with this game. Here's an idea, Bethesda, try spending more on testing and less on advertising. It's too bad the commercials for New Vegas look better than the game plays.

Ya...it seems to get progressively worse and more frequent the further along you get. At first I had no problems at all and now I can't even enter the strip because my PS3 freezes up every time I try. This game is just horrible and it's beyond me how it ever made it to release in this condition.

I liked your post Viperman2007, a little brutal and Neanderthal but funny and to the point. It was a little unhelpful however.

i only freeze up when i enter VATS, i know i don't NEED to use it to finish the game but it is annoying and the system is supposed to make the game better, i'd rather get rid of the game if this is going to remain the same

After you re-install the game and clean the files try playing it under these scenarios:

Patch not installed, internet off

Patch installed, internet off

You might eek out a little more time, but I fear the crashing will catch up with you again.

This will probably help for awhile but best too just wait for the patch,And play something else for awhile.I`m hanging too continue with NV!! COM ON PATCHES!!!!! :)
