freezing., patch?, frustration!

Post » Wed Aug 26, 2009 12:54 pm

I bought the game a week ago and within the 1st 10 min it froze and I had to reboot my PS3. I was very frustrated. Well the next day it started working ok, then it kept freezing like every 10 minutes. So I re-downloaded the game serveral times thinking that would help, but now I can't play the game more then 30 seconds without it freezing. I have been hearing about a patch for ps3 US for a week, but I am wondering why it has not been released. Has anybody heard anything that I haven't? I don't know if a patch would even help this freezing problem. It's unreal, I have played less than an hour of this game due to all the freezing.

All I know is that the patch will be released soon, no ETA yet, but they will release a patch soon to fix these bugs. By the way, you're not the only one with the buggy game.. a lot of us are experiencing the same problem or something similar. I just wish everyone would at least calm down and give it a rest until these guys can iron out the majority of the bugs.

I don't think they care that you'll play Borderlands (Fun game) they got your money. Just need to play something else until the patch comes out. As a matter of fact you should... constantly having the PS3 freeze like that and rebooting it can cause harm.

I'm worried that the patch will only address the quest/script/companion loopholes everyone has described. The problems you'd run into even if your game was running perfectly, with no performance/game-play/game-engine issues. The issues I want patched, the serious performance/game-play/game-engine problems tons of people are dealing with. I have yet to even hear a Bethesda/Obsidian employee of forum moderator admin these issues exist. They only talk about the quest bugs, the script glitches, taking a companion in the casino. Things they can block off from happening, they are not talking about the performance/game-play/game-engine issues at all, and I doubt they will ever be addressed, just like with Fallout 3:GOTY.

I totally agree with you!!! I notice they never address that the game is unplayable to some, they only address the minor problems.

Also, if it bothers some people that some of us won't stop complaining or saying that we are being unpatient is because maybe when you are an advlt game player and don't have the extra money to put out for a game, but I was stupid and bought it anyway thinking it would be as awesome as FO3. If I was 13 and didn't work hard for my money then I could care less. Its like buying a broken TV, would any of you be so patient? No you would just take it back to the store and get a refund or another one. Why should a game be any different? They obviously knew they were releasing a broken game or do they? Did they even hire testers? Are we being used as testers? Thats what I ask. Will this patch even fix these major problems that many of us our addressing? Its just a concern that I have. Blowing $60 isn't something I enjoy.

First update is out. Keep in mind that if you're having issues with a specific save, it might help you to roll back to a save prior to the issues.

All good points.

Unfortunately, this is all nothing but a rewind however. Same old story as it was when Fallout 3 launched...

They have mentioned "instability", which I guess is the closest they've come. I'd be calmer if they said "freezing" specifically, and confirmed that they're working on exactly that.

The first patch is out 1.01 but it doesn't fix any stuttering or crashing issues. I played for about 10 minutes after the patch installed and it crashed.

Yeah same here. I was so happy the game didn't freeze for like 5 minutes which is remarkable for my 5 second game plays that I have been having before it would freeze. I walked into a place and then it just froze, so no help at all.
