Freezing upBuggy

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 11:15 pm

I purchased the game last week and have been playing steadily ever since. The game locks up all the time, freezes and becomes unresponsive. Like everyone else all I can do is pop out the disk and let the system perform a hard reboot. This is without a doubt the buggiest game I have ever played on the PS3, with Fallout 3 coming in a close second. I have the first patch installed, to no avail. What the heck is the problem Bethesda? This is totally unacceptable.

Skyrim is using Bethesda's own, purpose built engine, rather than the third party Gamebryo engine, so hopefully it will be better.
(Not that that helps with the current problems ...)

Game completely locks up. At first sign of combat, game locks up. Upon reboot, 1st sign of combat locks up again.

I have had a lot of problems with both fallout 3 and New Vegas but with my experience with the game I have discovered a way to cut down on the crashes. I have been playing the game , by that I mean at least three or four hours a day for about a month now; sometimes six or seven hours a day and have had the game crash ONCE.

DO NOT PAUSE THE GAME. I noticed that all the crashes occured after I left the game paused for short or even extended periods of time.

If you stop playing to go to the toilet perhaps just leave the game as it is or enter a building where there are no enemies. If you are doing something that may take a while save the game, exit and eject the disc(do not leave the disc in the ps3 as this may cause the game to crash when you start playing later).

As I have said before the game has only crashed once in a month and that is because I have not left the game paused. (Playing fallout 3 game of the year does not count because that f&*@er will crash no matter what)

People need to send thousands of emails to Zenimax and Bethesda to get them to find a solution to this freezing problems or give those of us who do like the game something to make up for our wasted time and money on a game that doesn't work.

i must have a special edition, perfectly ps3 console because i've had little to NO issues with New Vegas. over 150 hours, 2 playthroughs, and everything is smooth as can be. there are a few graphical glitches, ie, two characters stuck together or an arm stuck through a torso, but that's it.

If you buy an HDMI cable you can hook it up to your PS3 and your TV. This will not only get rid of plenty of the lag and crashes, but it will also make your games HD. I'm not sure if this will fix your problem, but it fixed many of the crashes I was having.
