Frequent odd framerate drops

Post » Sun Jan 05, 2014 10:06 am

For some reason, the framerate keeps dropping to 20/30's (from a constant 60fps) frequently on multiplayer and to a lesser extent on single player. No matter where I look, and how much action is going to the screen, it happens. Also, tried numerous diferent graphic settings, and it still happen. For example, sometimes when i'm on sp on a small room, the framerate slows down, then after a couple seconds its smooth again even if I don't move the mouse or leave the place at all.

I5 2310
ATI 6770
4 GB
Windows 7 64-bit

Latest Catalyst drivers

Would appreciate any help, apart from these annoyances the game is running and looking pretty good. Thanks in advance.

Have you checked to see if your card is overheating? I kind of notice something similar when it is.

You have to understand that a GPU's fan needs to be manually controlled if you don't want it to overheat.

Thank you for replying.
During Crysis 3, my card reaches 69-72C on full load wich seems to be the normal for my card.

hi i dont know if this would work on an amd card, i have a nvidia gtx 770 card, i had the same issue regarless resolution / settings / video drivers ,game versions i used, my solution was to first set vsync on for this game on the nvidia control panel (i guess you can do the same from your amd card control panel) and then used the d3doverride utility found in the riva tunner utility, to enable triple buffering, (dont know if this utlity works on amd cards, if not, maybe there is another one for those cards) after that, no more sudden / random framerate drops.

tbh mate, I can't stand vsync lol, due to the input lag (even with tripple buffer). I play all my games capped at 58 fps with no vsync, wich I get minimal tearing and no input lag.

back on topic, BF4 started to give similar problems, so, its not a Crysis 3-related issue has a I thought. Much appreciated for all the help
