esp and esm are not the same thing. You shouldn't use Mart's Monster Mod.esp with FCOM but you must definitely use Mart's Monster Mod.esm.

Thank you very much, I'm in the process of doing a step by step (lol word for word) install from the FCOM site. When I complete my final list I'll double check to see I don't have the same errors you mentioned.


What's strange is after I installed Frans mod in the install guide ( http://devnull.sweetdanger.net/fcominstall.html ), I notice lost textures in coc toddtest. Where a two story house with NPCs inside is suppose to be, when I enter now it's an empty void of darkness. I look up and I see the NPCs on the second floor floating. The walls are pitch black and my character is slowly floating downward into nothingness. If I'm quick I can hit the door and go outside into "The Wilderness" with some NPCs standing outside in a semi-circle, that dremora is huge. Also in the coc testinghall, in the basemant room, which a red light glows over the door, down the stairs in the center of the basemant room is another void of darkness. I've thrown the scrolls and paper that were on the floor in the corners into the center of the void. They just slowed down and floated into it, like water, floated downward then vanished. About 5 seconds later it respawned next to my feet. I mentioned the red light over that door, about 8 doors in a row have red lights over them. on a connecting corner there are about 8-10 doors with white lights over them. On the other side of the square there is a small maybe 6 row of doors with a blue light. In the center 2 doors are green lit. Other than that I don't notice anything strange. It loads fast, no crashing, the Wrye bash order looks clean, no conflicts in the mod checker, and BOSS is happy. Are these, since Frans install, dark voids (missing textures/meshes I'm guessing) something I should be worried about?

I juuust finished with the FCOM site, I'm sure I can just upgrade right? So far this looks very promising! I ran the coc 300TestCell00 - 30, strange 300TestCell01 had no NPCs inside but the containers were full of items. 300TestCell30 was dark and had nothing. Each test cell, other than the two, were active. NPCs walks about, if I made a move it seemed to fill them all with rage and start striking one another. All of the containers (chests n' such) were full with all sorts of stuff. The NPCs in each test chamber wore crazy gear and each varied in weapons all sorts and sizes. It looks good, loads crisp, exists with no CTD error. It looks solid in Wrye along with BOSS and the mod checker. What do you guys think am'I right? Have I finally won?!?!

I went through 2 fresh installs since then. I started following the FCOM site untill Arkngt suggested I should follow the thread on this site since it's more updated. I didn't read his response until I just finished with the FCOM site install list. I guess I better do another install if I want to be updated. What do you guys think of this load order though? Does it seem like I'm getting a hang of this?

Ok, I did another fresh install, and followed the thread instructions to the T. I noticed I missed two things last time which could've been what gave me issues. I ran coc toddtest and everything looks normal!!! I ran around a bit and it's stable, no CTDs or anything. The Wyre list looks good, what do you guys think?

My recommendation would be to use either the Fran's or the MMM (Arkngt says though they do not hurt each other) because one should subsequently also chose the right MOBS support file for the one or the other... yeah it's not easy to get it all right... Oh, Tomlong also has put up her modlist on her site but I would think to tell Savus that is about as useful as to point him to mine.... :dance:

lol I'm sorry, I'm trying! I'm working on fixing my errors now :) I refuse to give up! I feel like I'm getting closer and closer with each revision. I still thank you guys with each response :D. I wouldnt be this far without you guys. Alright I did the changes Ms Aellis suggested, once I finished with that I went and compared my list to yours Tommy. You have more mods than I do, but from what I can see ours is fairly close. What do you think? Also could you tell me how to do the spoiler thing? I don't want to continue breaking the rule :o. Hmm, I may have to go for another reinstall unless I can patch this up but when I coc bleakcave and I try to step outside, there are no textures, only brown, not even a black void. I then teleported to an INN and it showed missing meshes ( http://img227.imageshack.us/f/oblivion201012091250372.jpg/ ) - ( http://img143.imageshack.us/f/oblivion201012091250346.jpg/ ). I hope I'm not frustrating you all as much as I am myself. Each time I get a revision from you guys I feel like I'm getting much, much closer, and I do greatly appreciate your help, all of you. :) I'm thinking when Tommy mentioned I didnt have the Frans SI stuff. I installed SI, then the UOPS ontop with the rest of the changes. I believe I should have installed those along with Fran so they're layered and overwritten properly. We can't learn unless we make mistakes to learn from :D. Anyways what do you guys think before I begin more radical changes? I need to take a short break. it's been a few days now working on this :o.

I'll take a look again and will edit my post. You are not that far away, certainly. Do not do a reinstall just yet. This may well be not necessary. Some devil is in the details... I'll check back later. :)

Edits:

It was never mentioned: What WB version are you using?? It should be at least version 287! 290 is probably even better. Anyway I'm still using v287 for now.

About the spoiler thing: When in Wrye Bash on the Mods tab, right-click on the top bar (where you can sort things) and go "List mods" and a window with your mods pops up. Look at it exactly: at the very top you see the "spoilers" in brackets. Just copy / paste the whole thing into your forum message.

As to the number of mods I have vs. you have: That is completely irrelevant in the sense that once you got the basic FCOM install right, you can add stuff at you leisure, more or less. The basic FCOM is about 20 to 30 mods plugins only, depending on options like spawn rates etc. Once you got that right, you are free to carry on further.

Something I just noticed, Cobal Races and SI are neither a green check nor a green plus, it's a green dot.

About SI: OK so you did not choose to install Fran's support for SI. Otherwise your pos. 01 and 02 would read differently, see my modlist.

But that's ok. Just take MMM support for SI then instead of going through Fran's install again (gameplay-wise it probably does not matter a big deal if you take Fran's SI or MMM SI). http://tesivpositive.animolious.com/index.php?page=my_load_order and go down to pos. 42, soon thereafter you see the name of the MMM file you need to install for SI support:

Mart's Monster Mod - Shivering Isles.esp [Version 3.7b3p3]

It is part of the MMM download. Its filesize is 71.576 stamped 2009-11-02. Install that, put on the bash tags as suggested by Boss log. It need not be activated, it should carry a "+" in your WB modlist then.

Ok, please do all these steps, then rebuild your Bash Patch.

DO MAKE SURE THAT ALL TAGS ARE APPLIED AS BOSS LOG SUGGESTS. DOUBLE-CHECK THAT MANUALLY LIKE GO THROUGH THEM ONE-BY-ONE TO MAKE REALLY SURE. DO IT AS IT IS IMPORTANT.

There is an auto-function for that in WB. I still check it myself afterwards. No, there are no short-cuts. Do invest these extra 15 minutes! :)

Do a little bit of testing / playing and post your modlist again. I'll check again if you want. there are a few details I think that are still not quite perfect. But I'll wait for your next post before carrying on.

Alright... many, many.., many issues happened after those fixes. To the point where Oblivion refused to start. So I was like "*(&$ it" and doing another fresh install. I skimmed over the directions on the sites again, then back to your reply. I started reviewing all the versions I had, thinking I had the latest ones. Then I got hit in the face. The link they gave for Wrye is 275, which is what I was using. Which didn't have the spoiler option -.-. I'm at 285 now, for some reason when I patch it to 290 bash wont start, the dos window pops up then vanishes. Well I went through the install again, made sure SI was installed and went over the mistakes Tommy, Arkngt, and Aellis saw I made in my last attempts. Ran all the tests I did before, and everything looks solid. The only odd thing I saw so far was in 300TestCell01 there was nothing. There are items in the boxes but no NPCs in the chamber. That Bash patch to rebuild is a beast, by the nine. It took me 15 minutes to pack it all up. I have a question about the rebuilding of the patch and the tags. I now understand how the BOSS page works, that helped a lot. My question is, since the bashed patch loads last and overwrites the mods before it. Wouldn't checking all imports be best? That's how this set up ran and it's smooth. I even alt tabbed without a CTD! :D Here is the info I collected.

Also I took a lap around the imperial city, no overlapping landscapes or anything. It all looked smooth and seamless. Also no jittering, I noticed years back it would micro stutter like a beast. Another thing... in the Imperial City, near a pond where those lilly pads are. There is a skeleton just relaxing up on the stone, with his leg perched up, an arm up on the wall, and thumb in the air. I dunno, I found that to be a little odd, but maybe it was a thumbs up like "yea you're good, start rippin" :D. Thank you all again for helping me out :D.

Not sure what you mean with "they", but I always recommend using http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1146727-relz-fcom-convergence-and-ufcom/ as a base for current download links and it simply links to the TES Nexus page, which has 277, 287 and 290. Not sure what else I could link to.

My question is, since the bashed patch loads last and overwrites the mods before it. Wouldn't checking all imports be best?


Yes, as said in the quick guide: "Generally you can rely on BOSS and Wrye Bash giving the correct bash tags and load order, so as a general rule you can check all mods that turn up in the respective Bashed Patch sections."

Looks good, except:

++ FCOM_Francescos.esp [Version 0.9.9] - I'm pretty sure this should be checked. Not 100% as I'm not using Fran's and I've seen it merged in others load orders as well, but I sort of take it for granted that it should be kept checked.

++ Francesco's Slower skills x1.5.esp - Consider using Progress instead for managing skill rates. Also, x1,5 will mean that you level too fast IMO - faster than with vanilla anyway. OOO's/FCOM's default is c. 3X slower. I play at 5X slower.

35 Francesco's 10 days respawn time - 1-16 day lenght rescale.esp - 10 days respawn time is annoying as soon as you want/need to wait for a respawn after updating/trouble shooting etc.

I mis-read that then, I wanted a slower progress gain. Finally awesomeness, time to add some mods and im set! I'll repost my list after im done setting up my mods :) thanks again everyone!

Hmmm, yeah you're right. I plan on playing this for a while. I'll install FrancescosLeveledCreaturesItemsMod into a folder on the desktop and extract the x2.esp and the 7 day.esp cycle.

Awesome!! Thanks for the feedback, I'm going to get them installed now. So far testing it's still great. The creatures that are hidden in those bushes are some I've never seen. I'm going to take it slow and adventure for a while, try to absorb all the content. When I got off the ship I was running around trying to examine everything and ran into this guy rockin some craaaazy armor. The details caught my eye and I just followed him. He went into a shop and went upstairs to talk to someone. update: Before I was to exit I decided to punch that guy in the mouth. As that happened, he whipped out this huuuuge rapier. Black metal with gold trim on the cutting blade, crazy engravings all up along the blade. The hilt had a wide light gray hand cover with needle spikes, sticking out in all directions. He halved me up in 2 wacks... lol. I'm amped.

Thank you, thank you. just about done! The lights at night look amazing, with the smoke coming from the chimneys. Once I finish installing UL and patched up, which im doing now. I'll spend a day or two running around the outskirts to see if there is anything missing or broken. Any suggestions as to where I should teleport to test content?

Savus, if you have Cobl (I think you do) then you can spare yourself the Denock Arrows mod. It is integrated in Cobl, but you have to activate it via the Cobl options in-game (there is a misc item in your inventory IIRC) ;)

Otherwise I'm happy you got it finally going. :)

You should not regard your modlist as definitive. Especially with textures for landscape and exteriors and all. You need to keep trying this or that until you find what you like and what your computer can handle. I personally like the textures of Bomret together with the various "Vibrant Series" made by member Corepc. Check his signature. They look really good.

A good weather mod is All Natural. I use it. It has a few cool features like Real Lights.

I'll look into your modlist once again later (no time now) to see if I spot something with the versions still. :)

That's I wasn't 100% sure on, what was and wasn't already integrated in FCOM or the supporting merges. I think I've completed my list. I turned on no clipping and flew around for a while trying to find something broken but all was crisp. with all those addons, which seem to be working properly, it looks pretty damn amazing from high in the air. The woods are thick, all sorts of animals running around, demons attacking travelers. It's a rough world out there when FCOM clashes together, damn. Here's what I believe to be my final mod list. Let me know what you guys think and or if I should add more addons that you think would increase the epicness :). You guys are all awesome for helping me out, I would never have done this without your aid.

Edit: Added a little over a gig worth of orchestrated music to all folders :D. hand picked that batch a long while back and been saving it since. I spent time just walking through the cities and.... it never looked this amazing. Especially from 1am - 6am. Around 6am when the sun breaks over the horizon it looks pretty crazy. then the chimneys lighten up with smoke, lights start to turn off to let in day light. I loves it :D. I started walking up the patch from Anvil and bumped into these guys!! http://img804.imageshack.us/img804/3056/oblivion201012111731115.jpg , a tiny chick, a baby calf, a wild wolf pup and some nutty female who decided to pull out her knife and start swinging at the older wolves. I'm not sure what to expect when I actually start playing but I'm ready.

No but reading on Tesnexus it sounds like it could be fun. It has 12 endorsemants which is rather a lot considering the relatively few downloads.
