Fresh Copy of Oblivion + FCOM, Bash List Review

Hey guys, once I found out Bethesda was working on a TESV I needed to get down on IV. I have yet to beat TESIV, for the one reason of the damn world, lol. I always end up running through forests and adventuring. I always forget to follow the storyline. I've read V is a direct sequel to IV, so I have motivation now to complete the game so I'm set for V. Main goal is to get the most out of this experience. Toss in the essential mods, addons, and balance mods to make ripping through from beginning to end an epic EEEEEEPIC adventure. Well here is my Bash load order, any tips advice is greatly appreciated. I don't plan on starting my character until I'm sure everything is solid and functioning properly. I ran the coc testinghall and that ran ok, I noticed some rooms had a green light and red light over them. I saw them in groups though. Anyone have an idea what that means? Also when I tried coc toddtest, the room inside is empty. Like an endless void of space. All I could see were floating people above me, and some floating items. I've seen a video on youtube that it's suppose to be a two story house. If I do nothing I simply slowly float downward. I can turn around and click on the door to go outside in to the wilds. Out there, there's random NPCS and creatures surrounding the house in a circle. This list is just the basics. Once I'm sure they're solid I plan on adding Natural Environments, QTPIII redimized, Unique Landscapes, Oblivion sound enhancments, and some NPC texture overhauls. Anyways thanks for reading my post, I hope to soon begin my adventures. :D

Turns out I'm missing textures. I read that the red light over the doors means missing textures, I have green, and blue lights I still need answers for. I'm thinking something is funky with my load order. I used B.O.S.S. with Wrye and OMM, while starting the game with OBSE. I teleported to a near by mine. I stepped outside and ran toward the water near the imperial city. once I got in the water I turned around to see a large portion of the mountain I was on is missing, it's clear. i turned around to examine the rest of the shore line and it too was clear, missing. I'm still reading and trying to figure out what in my loot order is causing this. If anyone can give me a sense of direction I'd greatly appreciate it.

Your Load Order needs a little love. :wink_smile:

- Check that you have the latest BOSS and masterlist and that you are using BOSS properly - none of those .esps after the Bashed Patch should be there

- Update Wrye Bash and check the .esps with orange checkmarks.

- Post your Load Order through Wrye Bash (right click Mods tab, list mods, copy paste with spoiler tags)

Thank you very much for posting so quickly. I updated Wrye and B.O.S.S., I clicked on the Boss application to rebuild the list. Then went into Wrye to rebuilt the Bashed Patch, 0.esp.

All the "Delinquent MASTER" warnings means that your load order is messed up - which again means that BOSS did not set your load order. So you either have BOSS incorrectly set up, or locked the load order in WB (which effectively would prevent BOSS from setting it). When you run BOSS, it opens up a html page displaying the load order it sets. Is that the same as what you see in WB?

Savus, your load order is a total mess indeed, as are many of the version numbers of the various mods. Did you really invest the time and read all the instructions, guides, like the FCOM opening post ? ? I'd say cut down on AT LEAST half of your mods and sttraighten them out...

Yeah right.... it looks kinda random to me. The version numbers stick out in red, that is helpful. As to the rest... :wacko: where does it take that coloring info from anyway?? It's just plain text we are uploading in this fashion... the mystical ways of the information technoloy... I guess (no need to reply, wrinkly :) )

I've attempted at this before when FCOM was 0.9.7 back in the day. I'm just going through it again trying to remember as I go along, while reading some notes. You are right though, I forgot to disable lock times. I disabled locked times, ran B.O.S.S. and now my load order has changed.

Once I saw the order change I locked the times again and rebuilt the patch. Now I'm going to run the Mod Test. It seems to show no errors. I'm going to post this and attempt at running the testing halls to see if I'm missing any textures or errors pop up. Again I thank all of you who're giving me advice to assist me along my path to FINALLY attempting at TESIV with a nearly perfect set up :D.

Did you really invest the time and read all the instructions, guides, like the FCOM opening post ? ? I'd say cut down on AT LEAST half of your mods and sttraighten them out...


What I did was find a pack online ( http://elderscrolls.com/torrent/5151295/FCOM_SuperPack_v2.42_-by_Danwood- ). It had detailed instructions in the pack, I can upload that if you'd like. I followed them to the T. Unless my assumption about him failed, I assumed he had this fully working with minimal errors. I figured it was my mistake. His approach toward realism intrigued me so I wanted to give it a shot. Going through this has some what refreshed a little of what I've learned. I forget most of the commands to work around Wrye. I have been jumping from different websites reading snippets of info to help get me continue down the road, but it's getting tough. Like I said above, I enjoyed TESIV a lot, and I plan to keep at it until I've learned enough to successfully run it with minimal conflicts. This I plan to be a final run, I just need to complete the main story, but this run will be an epic one!


Edit: (30 minutes later) I'm starting to think that pack was a waste & I should've just installed it manually, fresh before any other mods then test it. Run the coc toddtest, coc testinghall, and teleport around Cyrodill to see if there are any issues. Once I see everything looks solid I'll add in a handful of other mods, then test again. What do you guys think, anything you can add to my testing method?

Savus, your load order is a total mess indeed, as are many of the version numbers of the various mods.


I think that's because that pack came with the latest updates from 2009, which was when that pack was uploaded.

Haha, alright I'm in the process of going for round 3 with a fresh install. I'll be back in a few hours and post my new load order, fail or no fail. :P

I'm going through the cheat sheet, trying to do everything step by step, word for word. I can't seem to find that one, both links don't work for me. Any one have the files they could send me?



Edit: After doing some reading I noticed that on the FCOM site it maybe a little out dated. On the FCOM post on this forum I noticed it was on Dec 5th. So I'm going to follow that post as an install guide since it's most up to date. Changing paths and hopfully this one well get me to my goal faster :P.

NM on the oblivion warcry patch, I got the link to work after an insane amount of refreshing :P. Working on trying to find out what the deal with Cobal Races is. I don't see the download and I'm not sure if I should install the cobl cosmetic if the cobal races is in there. Other than that I think I can piece it all together and run some tests!


Edit: I have a question that just hit me. When building the bashed patch, do I need to select all the green ones or everything?

Savus / Elicarus:

1. pick one username for this forum and stick with it.

2. using that FCOM pack is a very very bad idea... it's bad form, and you'll get a mess of outdated junk that no one on this forum will help you support.

i'd recommend:

1. delete everything - start with a fresh oblivion install
2. follow the up-to-date and incredibly detailed instructions http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1146727-relz-fcom-convergence-and-ufcom/.
3. read every word of that post, read every word of every readme file.


if you do that and still have trouble (unlikely, if you follow the instructions) then you'll get help from folks.

(also...use wrye bash to post your load order. right-click on the file header in wrye bash, and click "list mods" then post that. it includes the spoiler tag to keep these posts clean and orderly.)



if you don't put in the time to follow these instructions... you probably won't see a lot of help from the users here.

It says "----> MISSING MASTER: Mart's Monster Mod.esm" BOSS told me to get rid of it, since it was apart of FCOM. Should I put it back?



edit: I added Marts Monster Mod.esm, I rebuilt the batch and now I can get to the loading screen, it loads no more than 5 seconds and crashes. Any ideas?

I put MMM.esp back in. Now the BOSS checks out fine. I ran a mod check in Wrye and everything now checks out. This is my current load order now. I can get to the load screen for 5 seconds then it crashes. Any ideas as to what could be causing it? One thing that's odd is "++ Cobl Filter Late MERGE ONLY.esp [Version 1.53]" on my Wrye it's a red box with a red X.

the red means it has a missing master. click and look under the masters list on the right side in bash. check the plugins listed there and make you have all of them. also have you rebuilt your bashed patch?

every time I go to test I do. I'm checking on the whereabouts of it's master now. thank you

Filter mods will always show up red. This is not an error nor will it cause crashes when properly merged in the Bashed Patch. However if you have a filter mod fully active, with a check mark not the ++ or **, then yes it will cause a missing master crash. But this is the least of your worries it seems.

I put MMM.esp back in.


esp and esm are not the same thing. You shouldn't use Mart's Monster Mod.esp with FCOM but you must definitely use Mart's Monster Mod.esm.
