Maybe they'll confirm pole-arms in the combat update.

And even crossbows too, but I doubt that. The GI magazine said that ranged combat was once again dominated by the bow and arrow, which means Oblivion-style ranged combat. No crossbows.

"We also wanted to let you know that there's more to come. We have some exciting new gameplay details and glimpses into the Bethesda studio coming next week. Check back in the coming days and you'll find a dedicated article on the combat of Skyrim, including Bethesda's exciting dual-hand approach to battles. We'll have a video about the talented art team and the work they do at the studio. In addition, watch for a focused piece on Skyrim's completely overhauled user interface and menu system, and how it differs from what you remember in Oblivion."

Yes yes yes yes yes!!! I'm really looking forward to the piece about the UI.

Atleast we got a confirmation of whats to come... Can't wait til next week.

I've been waiting to hear more about the combat system since I first read about it. I didn't particularly like the combat in Oblivion so I settled for stealth archer most the time. The revamped dual-hand combat system, from the little I've read about it, sounds awesome. Just what a new TES game needed. The finishing moves and the give and take approach to melee is bound to make the combat way better.

Also the User Interface and left, right, up, down menu system sounds interesting. I didn't mind the old stuff but anything that is suppose to make it fresh and improved I'm down for. I think the 3D items in your inventory is a nice touch as well.

What's this left, right, down, up menu system?

Did you get the game informer magazine? Page 54.

When you tap the menu button a four point compass-style overlay pops up.
Press up to go to your skills.
Press right for your inventory.
Press left for your magic spells.
Press down for the map.

The magazine explains it better but I don't wanna retype it all.

So I guess quests are under a sub menu under map and dragon shouts are under magic?

I guess that's what the hub update on it will delve into... the details.

Dragon shouts could be under skills too maybe

I guess GI is really gonna milk this for all it's worth. Regardless I can't wait till next week, the combat article is going to be good and full of possible new info but I'd rather learn about the menu and how they changed it.

I had no interest in this update.

Only thing I found interesting was that they said what they would show us next week.

Can someone with a twitter account ask Andrew Reiner if there will be secret updates this weekend?

Man...I hope it's not like that on PC. Oblivion was already annoying as hell to find anything. I don't want my UI to be a freaking mini-game. Maybe that's what next week's article will cover...separate UI for PC version!!

Not to belabor the point, but Morrowind's UI really was completely adequate. Click, click you're done.

I'd be really surprised if there weren't separate UIs this time. Bethesda has so many more people working on Skyrim, so it would be easy to put together a team for the console UI and the PC UI.

Well they wouldn't be very secret then now would they?

I think he deserves a break, in all likelihood the updates will start on Monday, hopefully with the combat or user interface first. I'm sure they'll save one of those two for last though.

Wow, those are some boring wallpapers.

But good to hear they are going to show, or at least talk about the new UI.

If anyone here found the black wallpaper somewhat ugly and cluttered like I did, I removed the text and the runes for you
