"Friend of the Night" perk functionality

Post » Sun Oct 10, 2010 9:17 am

I have noticed that if you are in a dark indoor environment, your low light vision will mysteriously deactivate at sunrise. I can hardly imagine this is an intended feature as the perk description explicitly states that it functions "indoors and when darkness falls." And of course logically speaking, low-light vision should function any time there is low-light. It hasn't been a huge issue until now, as I am fighting Nightkin in near darkness with my wimpy stealth character. Just wanted to bring the issue to light.

It's like cateye pills but without the blue glow. It is more noticeable for extremely dark underground locations where you would still have shadows even if you turn the brightness up. Try going into a dark cave just before nightfall and waiting a bit. Since it is currently active only at night you should see the change when it kicks in.

Nighteye pills? I love Nighteye from TES. Anyway, there is no point in wasting caps or perks. Just turn your brightness up. Makes the game look better too.

I tried doing that, but it makes daylight unnaturally bright and washed out, even for a desert wasteland. Fortunately, I have a night-vision scope for my varmint rifle now, so it's not too much of an issue. It's just the principle of the matter that bugs me, or I wouldn't be shamelessly bumping this post back up...

I'm with you Salamandra. I used two perks to get Friend of the Night - one for the perk itself, one for getting the attribute (PER I think?) to the right level. And the point you're raising is sound - if players are looking for low-light vision during the day, then "Friend of the Night" is currently not a solution.
