I have a few perk spots to fill and it sounds cool, but does it work well and does the tinting become distracting?

You'll never get used to the tinting turning on and off. It will turn on even when you're only in a slightly dark location, and when it turns on you WILL notice it. It's not distracting but you just wont get used to it turning on. But after the first few seconds after it turning on you'll forget about it, until it turns off again at least.

As for it's effectiveness, in some caves it's really helpful, but I've also been in caves where it was so dark it didn't even seem like it was working.

If you really have no other perks you want to take, then taking this perk wont hurt, but don't expect it to be all that helpful.

They have some cat eyes drug that does the same effect, but you can control it. I found the drug on some merchant, idk if you can get it in mass supply anywhere but it'd be nice to not have to take the perk but still get the effects.

Thats because you very selectively bolded what he said....

He said 'You'll never get used to it turning on and off' but while it's on you don't notice it....

I think I may know why it's sometimes extremely effective and sometimes isn't. From my experience, it seems that although it works both inside and outside, it only works during the night. So, if you enter a dark cave during the day, it won't work, but if you enter during night, you'll be able to see everything. It's kind of stupid but that's the way it works.

yea yea, if i put periods after a semi sarcastic statement i could make you look like the bad guy...

the point is i want to know if it is distracting, it seems that he is saying that only the switching on and off is distracting, but why would that be troublesome and the actual lighting not - I would think that if it's annoying switching on and off that would say the light itself is annoying.

No, the light really isn't annoying at all. The only reason switching on an off is annoying is because it's so sudden and doesn't seem natural. All of a sudden as soon as it starts to get dark your screen will abruptly change, making it a bit weird. But once it's on, you forget about it until it abruptly switches off again. Would have been better with a smoother transition.

I took it, yes. I like it; but it has a problem with making things darker than without the perk unless it's night-time. IE, go into a dark building during the day, and it's even darker inside than if you didn't have the perk.
