My friend traded it in 3hrs after buying

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 6:27 am

A friend and I own 360 and had both been anticipating the game equally so and we both pre-ordered and moaned about how we wished it was already released every day until today. We both got our copies and he was so disappointed that he went back to the store and traded it in nearly immediately. I don't think it's that bad. The guns don't look all the different in the stats menu, the AI isn't helpful, there's only 2 decent looking face archetypes, and the graphics looks extremely grainy, but I can still see myself playing the game for at least a while...

Though there are some things I just don't understand, such as why there are no lobbies..why the developer diaries touted some deep storyline and RPG status drama and character depth but all we get is 20 second cutscenes before matches that are the exact same thing as multiplayer except vs AI for a campaign. The character customization is fun, but I don't understand what took so many years to make in this game, or why the release date was pushed back so long when it's barely got more content than a arcade game. Those are my thoughts. Feel free to add to them or state your own.

Unfortunately from what I've seen through Let's Plays and player feedback (I personally haven't played it) I actually agree with a lot of that. Nothing I've seen so far screams 2 year+ development cycle, and all content that exists ingame comes in extraordinarily small quantities (outside the player customization which is fantastic). Paired with the technical nightmare the game's suffering on my console of choice, the apparently apocalyptic A.I., and what seems from an outside perspective to be really limiting map design and I'm incredibly nervous even just renting...

I don't think that's fair. This is a forum for genuine discussion on the game, and he's expressing his confusion/concern over what he sees as a lack in quality despite a solid development time. He's not trolling or flaming, just expressing an opinion.

read the threads about bots before posting about them: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1187993-how-the-bots-work/

All that he said was already said 100 000 times, we dont need so many topics saying the same (bad) thing

A little research will go along way before you throw a game out the window.

They have said that the bots can be tweaked, that right now the bots won't complete objectives because the company wants you to be the one and the only the true hero. If the community in general wants it, the bots can be made 'better' afaik.
Second, this is a multiplayer game, the bots don't matter... It's like saying "I hated CS because the bots svcked!"... That doesn't really fly either.

It has also, and was stated prior to reviewers even getting their copies, that there would be a day1 patch for the 360 (this could mean the 10th (american release) or the 13th (world wide release)). So complaining about graphics is stupid, complaining about the style of the graphics is subjective (and either you like them, dont mind them, or hate them... pretty much).

Fan boys are SO annoying. You can't say anything negative about something YOU purchased. They seem like the type to eat feces if the developers told them it was chocolate. If there is a wide outcry from people who actually purchased the game obviously SOMETHING is off, and nobody cares how many times YOU have to read it. Go play the game if everything is perfect for you. People want their voices heard.

I got the game yesterday and the bots were completing objectives. One the springs to mind is the map Container City playing on the resistance side. The bots were doing a great job of keeping the barriers up around the crane. On the Airport map they were helping me crack the safe on the Security side. On every map the bots will capture command posts( this is an objective is it not?)

So while the bots are by and large not the smartest, its wrong to say they never complete objectives.

Haters are just as annoying, if not more so... They are often way more vocal about the smallest issues, especially since they rarely research the thing they are hating on. Much of what is being pointed out as negative about this game is already being worked on. If your gonna hate, remove yourself from the forum. Constructive criticism is, as always, welcome though, hating is not.

Thanks man, I was so disappointed when I came back and saw how people had gone out of their way to make me feel bad about my post or called my opinions stupid. I didn't really even elaborate on the points I made or list all the issues with the game, such as the servers on 360 being very laggy and unplayable almost all the time unlike any other of my multiplayer games. The day 1 patch didn't seem to fix anything as I've only played the game after the patch was installed the first time I put the disc in. Everyone I know/have talked to who's played the game expressed some level of disappointment and feels misled by the gameplay trailers and developer diaries; so yes I think there is a bit of a "really devoted fan" element going on here that IS really annoying...

1. I haven't thrown the game out the window...if you read my post you'd know that.

2. I didn't say the bots should do all the objectives for me, they're just erratic and stand in front of me while I'm firing too often and stand behind me hiding while I'm doing objectives instead of guarding.

3. If the patch came out "day 1" then I don't see how I could have missed it. All the problems the game has are being experienced post patch...
