That's why I'm worried for some here who let their imaginations run wild on what type of things might be in Skyrim.
For example, I'm not so sure everyone knows exactly what "Radiant story" means.
That doesn't mean there are an infinite number of mind-blowing quests that are completely new every time you start the game.
It means that certain variables of quests will be different based on your character and his experiences.
For example, if your side quest is to go retrieve a sword, but you have already visited X Cave, they might tell you to go retrieve it from Y Cave instead.
Things like helping the group with the giant and them asking you to be in their faction, or traveling funeral parties, or public hangings are NOT examples of radiant story like some here say. Those have been in nearly every extensive preview so far, in exactly the same manner. Those things are scripted.
Also, I hope people with this vibrant, brilliant images of things like Tavern life in their head aren't disappointed with the real game.
I always see topics such as, "What are you expecting in the Taverns?"
And the answers are things like, "Very loud and raucous, with 20+ people in there at a time. Singing and dancing, and grizzled looking mountain men sitting in a corner telling stories of their travels while buying ample rounds of mead for everyone in the place. Meanwhile, a lone, hooded Dunmer sits at a table in the corner, counting his coins and looking around suspiciously. You take a seat at one of the tables and a beautiful barmaid comes over to take your order. While you are waiting on your drinks, you pick up an instrument and begin to play with the 3-4 other Nords already playing instruments and singing. Your character begins to tell his own stories, based on what you have done so far in the world, and then sings songs about them. Then two Nords erupt in a big bar fight and everyone in the whole tavern is brawling bare-fisted. There are broken bottles and chairs flying, and cursing abound.... etc. etc. etc."
Yes, that would be most ideal. But I'm afraid technology just isn't at that level yet.
What do I expect from Tavern life? 5-6 people sitting at tables drinking, using the randomly-processed conversations that you've heard elsewhere in the world. If you want a drink, you have to go up to the counter and "barter" for it. AND THAT'S OK. It will still be a nice experience as part of an awesome game. BUT, I'm not going to let myself expect something unreal that quite obviously isn't going to be able to happen.
Like I said, I am pumped for Skyrim and want it to be awesome for everyone involved. I just hope that everyone whose expectations are in another world right now aren't disappointed when it's a little more basic than they had imagined...
