Friendly AI

There are only two things really keeping me from enjoying Brink to its fullest.

1. The Lag. It seriously needs a patch, but I suspect that is already in the works.

2: The Friendly AI.

Let me spell that out for you.......

FIX THE FRIENDLY AI! FIX THE FRIENDLY AI! FIX THE FRIENDLY AI!

FIX THE [censored] FRIENDLY AI!

Because it is totally unfair as it is. The enemy AI is a semi-coordinate, efficient machine that knows exactly what to do, can kill with alarming efficiency and actively seeks out new objectives. The friendly AI on the other hand is a brain-dead, near catatonic mess that makes the Imperial Storm Trooper Academy look like it churns out the perfect soldier. They can literally aim at a wall and miss. Unborn children would make more effective teammates than the current friendly AI.

Either make them work on the same level as the enemy AI, or just below them. Not on this "So bad it must be on purpose" level. Its not fun, its not fair, and it doesn't make me (or anyone else) want to play when you know you're going to have to do the work of 8 people by yourself.

They're working on it. At this point topics like these are really just spam.

Forgive my ignorance, but can you make a patch to boost AI intelligence? I seem to remember the developers talking about a system for that kind of thing they were implimenting for Brink, but that seems like a pretty major change...

The AI was intentionally dumbed down for the single player experience, so that the actual human player can feel like the hero, being central to most of the objectives etc. SD has already acknowledged that the AI is subpar, and will include new coding that takes off the handicap of friendly AI. New patch is forthcoming.

I heard they said "we can tweak a few settings to make the AI willing to do everything" but no word on whether they'll actually be doing it.

I hope this gets addressed, and i hope the friendly AI becomes more aggressive because there is nothing more agitating than trying to complete the "Be More Objective" challenge star 2 with incompetent AI. Especially the part where you need to become an operative and you try to hack the objective with your back faced against the enemy's spawn, with no backup to boot, It's near Impossible!!! :banghead:

The way its set up right now isnt terrible in and of itself, but in context to the rest of the game its just bad. If we had some control over them or could assign them towards objectives then the initially passive-ish AI wouldnt be an issue.

Brink needs more Republic Commando in it.
