So my friends who is going to midnight release?

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 9:52 pm

Whether I bother with a midnight release depends largely on whether the PC version gets unlocked that night or ends up being the next day. And even if I do end up going to get the game that night, I will probably just go to a 24 hour Walmart to buy it instead of dealing with reserving it at GameStop. But that's mainly because I get a discount at Walmart and my experience has been that it's a lot easier to deal with getting new games there.

Aww, I wish. :(
I'm about 10-15 minutes away from Irvine too, but I highly doubt my dad would let me go anywhere at midnight. D';

...I think I need to start plotting. My dad can only stop me if he knows. *cough*

I'd go to one, however I ordered off of STEAM. I wanted the Caravan pack and Walmart's preorders were only for mail to house, not in store pickup. -_-;;;

Definitely going to the midnight release, I mean, I've been looking all over for more details, and I hardly cannot wait.

Then, get a little Nuka Cola, and play fallout on my computer, all night long

So comrade; just as the title says who is going to the midnight release? My gamespot is doing it but I'm not to sure i would do it, maybe if i can get my friend to go. Its not too far out of the way for me just about 10 minutes or so. I guess mainly the question is would you expect a lot of people to be at the midnight release or not?

I will...just sayen

Sadly I'm busy with school and I have about 3-4 hours of homework on average sometimes even more if its a busy week. (tests, projects, ect.)
Another reason I can't make it is because a few days ago they stopped taking pre-orders at the store for the collectors edition so I had to order it online and pay for overnight shipping.
So to everyone who does make it to the midnight release I hope you enjoy the game.

I can't beleive theyre having a midnight rlease for the new call of duty and not FNV. just wrong.

Yeah, I'm in Victoria and we're not having one either. :(

I would try to make it if we were.

Speaking of midnight launches, I just put up news of the devs from Obsidian and where some of them will be next week at the strike of midnight

http://bethblog.com/index.php/2010/10/14/meet-members-from-obsidians-team-on-new-vegas-launch-night/

Hmmm, only ~400 miles (7 hours) away... well, I am about 2300 miles closer to it than I would have been a few months ago but it's still just a tad too far. :P

Man, California is so damn big... I've lost count of the number of times I've heard of cool video game-related events happening in CA that made be think "Oh cool it's in the same state as me, maybe I can go..." only to find out it's hundreds upon hundreds of miles away.

No point in going to a midnight release. PC players can't even play the damn game until steam unlocks it sometime in the afternoon. So, I was going to midnight release, but not anymore.

I don't think that is going to happen. Bethesda and Obsidian have planned to be at several launch parties. At midnight. They have announced where in another thread. Link below.

Do you really think Bethesda is going to want some upset fan coming in at 12:15 screaming "You svck I can't play this game!!!" in front of the gaming press and cell phone cameras? I don't think they are going to let that happen.

Yes, the count down timer at Steam says into the day, but they set that clock weeks ago and erred on the side of caution on when it would go live. Or the clerk who input the data messed up on the time zone date line continuum while she was pissed at her boyfriend and texting Margie-Jo about the loser she was dating while waiting for the nail polish to dry as she was going out on the prowl. I think you get the point I am trying to make.

Damn... You know if I was a rich man, I would fly-in to JFK or Long Beach tomorrow just to meet the team and shake their hands. Such opportunities are rare, and they deserve all of the praise and love we can heap on them.

Perhaps there will be one of those gaming conferences in DC one day where we Mid Atlantic folks can thank them properly. :)
