If >THAT< is the system you are using the GTX 580 with, then yes. I recommend you getting a better CPU obviously. That dual core CPU in your current system probably is way too slow and can't keep up with the GPU.

My advice: Return that computer you bought on BestBuy and return that GTX 580. Then look for a decent rig that's got components like these (just an example): AMD Phenom II X4 955, 4 or 8GB DDR3 RAM and a GTX 560. That should be more than enough power for Crysis 2 even if you want to play at 1920x1080 on extreme settings.

PS: Well, troll or not. I too had to laugh at the original post but if he's serious then all the more reason to help.
PPS: @OP: If your keyboard and mouse svck, replace them and get used to it. First person shooters aren't meant to be played with a controller. It's thanks to that stupid Halo game and those, please excuse the generalization, American MS fanboys that we got this consolization crap now :)

I cant return it , we used tinsnips on the inside to make the gtx 580 fit, and I was using a sempron 2800 this morning, the new dual core is way better than most people have, check out this pc with the same proceser smoking crysis 1 on max settings http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MPlreD-ACE , its probably one of the best computers anyone could ever have and why in the world would I return a 580 to get a 560?

you need an I7 or a phenom X6 with that GPU otherwise you will be limited by your CPU. I recommend getting an EVGA X58 board and an I7 930 or 950 with at least 2x3Gb of Ram. Make sure you have a 64bit processor as well. this will allow you to play crysis 1 and 2 on max settings as I have the same rig excecpt a GTX 260 instead of a GTX 580 GPU and i get around 60 to 100fps in Crysis 2 with maxed tweaked settings and around the same but a bit lower in Crysis 1.

I think I may have damaged something, please help guys, I used an overclocker tool and pumped up the core speed to 1000 because it was stuck at a ridiculis slow speed of 200 and it is supposed to be like 832 then I played crysis 2 for about 20 seconds and the screen went all red and had green dots everywhere , I tried to restart it but the monitor light just flashes , while all the fans are on, how do I fix it , PLEASE HELP ME, I am so dead

lol 16k? Thats it?
My old comp (i7 + GTX 295) gets 23k. In theory the GTX 295 is about 50% as fast as the 580. You NEED an i7 at least for that card.

If thats true I guess we all bought a 920/2600k for nothing then.

And if you are serious, please, please, please throw your dual core CPU away. It's rubbish nowadays.
Go and buy an i7 CPU, they are not very expensive now.

anyways it is my understanding that I have to (de authorize ) this pc to be able to install the game on our new pc , does anyone know if this is true
It's only true for illegally downloaded / cracked version of the game. De-authorization is a no problem if you purchased the game legally.

The high overclock has probably damaged your monitor. Try to test with some other display if you can. But most likely you'll have to buy a new one.

Close this thread please.

Someone is trying to make out they have something, which they don't. GTX 580 on AGP? Right!

16000 in 3Dmark 06? Lol I get almost that in 3Dmark11.

Yep and if you buy a 5000W amp.."which you mean PSU" you'll get nearly 5000FPS on your PC running Crysis.
