i usually try to deactivate esps, check back ingame for the crash and continue this process until the crash vanishes at some point.
see some posts above, Supreme Magicka once was a "culprit" as far as i remember...


I tried that, and with only oblivion.esm and dlcfrostcrag.esp activated, I still got the crash. I figured it was a problem with installation, so I re-installed Frostcrag Reborn and am still getting crashes.

uh that sounds odd. Are you shure you don't get crahses even without Frostcrag ?
sounds more like a driver issue or similar to me.
personally I never had any crashes related to Frostcrag :mellow:

Well,,,I am not sure. I have never had any issue with it. The One thought that comes to mind is the Enhanced Music Plugin causing issues for you. It doesn't have that affect in my game, and no one has reported anything to me, but that is the only script attached to doors in the mod. It may be causing some sort of issue. If your using the Enhanced Music Plugin, try disabling it, and seeing if that clears it up for you.

ok i have a strange bug... in that place behind the place you fight the Litches (parden my spelling i just really bad at spelling) ok well i go down and than i go to the place with the stair way down and get the message stating you wonder if it just goes on and on than it basicly freezes up and a window pops up connected to Oblivion about wanting to run a video but nothing runs.... its probably just me and i like to load your mod last not counting bash patch i use MMM and OOO and CBAL and its patch for your Mod ..... i hope this is not a probleam on my side.... but maybe you can tell me how to disable the video that would be very helpfull..

I've had the Enhanced Music Plug-in disabled ever since I first entered the room with the spiral stairway. I was having the issue where it minimizes Oblivion and brings up a picture of the album art. Since its already disabled, I really don't see any other source for these crashes. It's probably just me, and when I start a new Oblivion character I will most likely re-install Oblivion and all of my Mods. Hopefully, when I do that, it will work. As for now, however, Frostcrag provides me a wonderful home, a tasteful location to store my stuff, and a roost to land my Akatosh mount! Keep up the good work Indefiance!

Here's a problem I hope someone can help with......

I installed a clean Reborn v3.0.6, and everything works perfectly. A wonderful Mod - BUT - when I go to the two towers to turn on the mana beams, only one button will work, the other just won't depress. I've read the walkthrough, so I don't think its part of the quest that I haven't done. Is there a console command to force the switch? It seems strange that the mod works flawlessly except for this small bit. I'm sure its just me being stupid.

But anyway THANKS for a great mod - one of the best.

I like the new tower, have been having vacation from Oblivion for a half a year, due to studies (and real life) and the 3.xxx version is awesome, although even the 2.xx was one of my favorites. I've been in love with Ayleids (and Dwemer, lost people are mysterious and cool), but nothing until Avalon made them justice. It... Is... Earthshattering. I can't find adjectives, I have been waiting for a similar mod from Sahardoom (http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=799176&hl=) but your mod just came out of nowhere instead :o

Anyhow (enough with asskissing), I've encountered a problem with my epic journey to Avalon: once I enter the great spiral staircase, and the modspecific music should start playing, my Oblivion gets minimized, I find myself staring at my desktop, and a Window called "Activemovie Window" with this cello-albumart appears. I minimize it, click Oblivion back and there's this text on the console: EMCCreateplaylist: Playlist exists...

I found out it has something to do with EnhancedMusicControl plugin, after deactivating te plugin I could hear the sweet tunes without problems...
Oh, and my game gets a bit laggy in spiral loooong staircase, and Avalon. But that was expected.

10/10, keep it up, and I'll donate some PP to justify my great experience.. And to think I paid Bethesda for the original DLC :)

First off Thanks for the compliments and encourement. I think this little problem has been identified...it has to do with the fact that I inadvertantly packaged the album art when I made the upload, and apparantly the plugin attempts to 'play' the file even though it isn't music. I re-uploaded a version of the resource files where those files were taken out of the music folder, so that should stop new occurences from appearing. For those like you who have already downloaded it, I would either redownload the new one and us it, making sure to delete out the old (which should be automatic with OBMM) or if you still have the 7zip handy, just unpack it somewhere temporary, and make a new folder for the avalon.mp3 file, and move that file and only the file into the new folder, deleting the old one. THis should get rid of any hidden windows files. Then you can make a new OMOD out of this temp folder, and you should be good to go.

Alrighty, I'm new to trying out mods for Oblivion, and i'm not very well versed with computers, but i'm having issues with the mod working properly

Basically the orginal DLC for wizard's tower works fine, but when i try this mod, The tower on the outside has this big yellow ball with a " ! " inside. The door to the interoior still exists, and when i walk in the same thing is inside, along with no floors to stand on >.>. I've done the install the way it said it should be done, so i'm not quite sure what's going on. I'm new to these forums, and oblivion modding, so forgive me if this is in the wrong board or anything like that. Any help would be appreciated, or if i need to explain something more in depth, i can try.

If youre sure you installed all the files correctly (the big yellow !'s mean Missing Mesh) then install this and see if it helps.

Greetings to you indefiance.

I feel I must say that, from my experience using this, it's bloody gorgeous. At first, thinking about it, it feels like a remake, but the moment you open the main entrance and as you progress through the towers most inner secrets, you can't stop being awed at what you're seeing. I'm not a big fan of new areas, or even remakes or overhauls of old areas, I downloaded things like Glenvar's Castle and other famous mods, but I didn't like any of them. I always felt that Frostcrag had so much to show and Bethesda did little to exploit that. Even if my character is a full [censored] 100% "i'm gonna rip you with my sword" girl, I still felt enthralled by this tower. You gave me a chance to call Frostcrag the TRUE HOME of my character in Cyrodiil.


Sadly, I had some problems with my game and mods load order was so messed up that I had to uninstall and reinstall my game and all my mods. That's when I stumbled upon this problem:

Previously, I used the "Fast Travel From Interiors" mod (http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5921) and it was all okay. Dunno why, but now, if I use that mod AFTER frostcrag, it messes up Frostcrag entirely. The areas are called "Bruma House Test" and etc, just like a few people stated a couple of pages before. I read what someone posted that if you have a mod loaded after frostcrag, and that mod changes something in those areas (like lightning), then the game ignores both mods and just uses the values in the .esm and then frostcrag becomes messed up. My thoughts are that the "fast travel from interiors" mod changes some values in the original area to allow you to fast travel from there like if it was outdoors. But the thing is that in my PREVIOUS install, this didn't happen. If you have some insight about this it would really help.


I fixed it changing a LOT of values using TES4EDIT. As I thought, the fast travel from interiors mod used the old oblivion.esm values for frostcrag cells and it was conflicting with frostcrag reborn and the unofficial oblivion patch, I changed the load order and placed the fast travel mod near the bottom of the load order list and then fixed some compatibility issues regarding the lightning.


Aside from that (and it didn't even have anything to do with your mod anyways :lol:), I have a couple of things to say about the mod per se:

1.- I don't know about ORIGINAL partners, but the Frostcrag Recall (I don't remember the original name :P) spell you get when you activate the floating sphere as soon as you enter the tower doesn't warp you ALONG any CM Partner companion. I feel it's kind of a downside, because it gives me no choice but to wait like 1 whole day to the partner to come back to the tower (if it EVER comes back...) or not using the spell at all, or the easiest but worst solution of them all: not using a companion at all. I'd love for you to fix it if you could :).

2.- This one is kind of a feedback really, not some bug report. I have a feeling that the "Oh Overlord of all Avalon" should have been a woman, not a man. Even the name, Tyras, sounded to me like it was a woman, and when I finally got there, I was like ".... .... ...???! WAT, a MAN?, what a bummer..." I mean, not that I hated the most awaited climix of Avalon, but at least for me it was kind of a downside that the allmighty being of all Avalon was a man, I was expecting a woman, I can't explain why, I just did. Would you.... let's say.... consider making him a her? :lol: Just to see how it fits, I believe it would fit better.

I've been having some issues with the distant LOD of the tower. I know that your mod already includes .lod files, but the problem is that when you use TES4LODGen, these get overwritten and the distant view of the tower dissapears. If you reinstall the .lod files after running TES4LODGen, it may seem as if it resolves the issue at first, but what happens is that you also loose many distant objects which were merged by TES4LODGen in the overwritten .lod files. The solution is to use a new "..._far.nif" mesh of the tower. The Unnoficial patch includes one, but its not suitable because it was made from the original tower and its lacking many of the new details from Frostcrag Reborn. If you created a new mesh, TES4LODGen would be able to create the correct .lod files and you could remove the DistantLOD folder from your mod, as TES4LODGen would take care of that.

I am having some issues that I believe are coming from the Unofficial Oblivion Overhaul (although I'm not entirely certain). I cannot load my saves without a CTD. Any suggestions?

Hello, indefiance. This mod looks so great and I really want to try it out, but I can't seem to get rid of crashes that it seems to cause. When I go to sleep (in a bed in a mages guild in Skingrad, if it matters), I level up, choose the three attributes to raise, click on "exit" and then crash to desktop. If I disable DLCfrostcrag.esp, this problem goes away, if I have it enabled, it crashes everytime.

I am having lots of fun with Frostcrag Reborn so far. I finished the first quest and I am amazed in the changes that have occurred, and now I am really excited and want to try on the second quest, although I think I am not powerful enough. Anyway I was curios

Amazing Mod. Downloaded yesterday and spent half the night working thru a newer character to safly visit the place(had to go and do ALOT of spell leveling to enchant much needed gear for avalon (did a quick dash thru on my god rogue before hand... The boss was fun when he cant target you :) ). Only thing i find wierd about it is the fact that you use alot of prebuilt ingame ruins as a base(understandable but gets rid of any surprises lol) and the fact that some places were like 2x in size and i felt like a Gnome in a Giants home.............. But AMAZING Mod and fun all the same...

ok i have been destroyed by the huge size of avalon its self(after getting down the 9000 mile stairway) i found the mana well place when i first got there somehow and ended up picking up 3 varla crystals(marked as stolen....) but i couldn't start it yet cause i hadn't been to firaga yet. but after i killed hte boss on my newer camo char(125%) (took like an hour using all the weapons i looted and repairing my main sword like 20 times....) but now i cant find the way to get back to the mana place..... i canvased the whole place as best as i can tell but i keep ending up else were and not that place again. If the mana place on the huge stair way? or am i just missing a door somewhere again?

Edit: well much to my dismay i know its not on hte huge stair well anymore... just climbed all the way back up that svcker...
So um anyone have general or detailed ,either is greatly apprechiated, directs to the first ruin i need to enter inside avalon to get back to the damn forge? I know its not abaspania, moran, aratasel, caverns, haelia dolorn. i went thru all of those multiple times checking everysingle exit...

Edit 2: god i feel so stupid i forgot that the one ruin was bigger than standard view.... finaly found the hall of mana again...

Not that big of a spoiler, but if your talking about the powers you recieve from the Mana Well, then they wear off slowly over the course of three days and can only be given on Sundas (unless you have completed the quests in Avalon), as I am sure you have noticed by now.

Yes I noticed that the powers are getting weaker eventually, also I found the note on the Mana Well when I went there a second time to recharge, sorry I forgot to edit the post. I went also into Avalon but the leader is way too powerful for me now, so I had to leave him for later. But the town is amazing! I loved just walking around admiring the place, the huge structures, the nice homes, and I felt overwhelmed by the grandeur of this place. I really felt sorry for killing the inhabitants and creators of such a wonderful city. Since I didn't kill the leader I don't know what is to come of the city, but is there a possibility that there will be a comeback of the city? I mean make it alive like Kvatch Rebuilt :P . I would feel bad to know that everything is forever gone about this city. Maybe a cure for the inhabitants? And I know that my dreams are kinda grand, but is there a possibility that Mage Rasteiri's dream could be accomplished to have mage's guild apprentices studying there? I felt sorry to see his dream crushed and I would love to see it accomplished at least after his passing by his heir as an homage. Nothing grand, just maybe a scholar or two and a couple of students with a schedule to stay in the student quarters, listen to the scholars, then go to the library, to go eat, just doing their normal daily routine, maybe some going in the alchemy lab to study the plants, things like that. It would sure bring a great deal of satisfaction seeing Rasteiri's dream accomplished like that. I don't know if you use FCOM... in that install there is Origin of the Mages Guild that adds such students at the arcane university, that act like that. Or a grander example is if you played Baldur's Gate 2, that had the stronghold for the players that were mages, the Planar Sphere, that was something like Frostcrag but in a different way, and after you were recognized as the ruler of the stronghold by the Cowled wizards, something like the Mages Guild in Oblivion, eventually you would receive apprentices given by them that you would teach by making them do some items for you in varied difficulty. And recently I played a mod for the Planar Sphere, a mod like Frostcrag Reborn, that added a University for Mages affiliated with the Cowled wizards inside the Planar Sphere after you successfully trained those apprentices and it is very nice :) . Maybe you already added something like that since I didn't see all that Frostcrag Reborn has to offer, but if not it would definitely be a great addition. The rebuilding of the mage guild branch in Frostcrag would be great! Some
trainers in magical arts and students fit this place very much

Rebuilding of the city or curing its inhabitants in contrary feels rather wrong to me - they are
cursed after all so I'd rather see the death of its inhabitants after their semigod killing.
Kind of they will be released from this semi-life due to your action!
