Question from the last thread: will the camping part still be seperated?

Probably not. Without Last Seed, the value in doing so has diminished.

That depends on where you're adventuring and what features you consider to be fun to play with.

idk I did not really look at any of the setting

I just clicked classic preset also I'm trying not to fast travel like some people do

the realistic needs mods seems to be a bigger nusiance

its like my character is always hungry & tired like a boring micro management & the thing needs like a 100 compatibility patches clogging my load order fwe & new vegas hardcoe never dominated the game always hungry & thirsty.

maybe you can integrate something to your mod.. I think I heard an interview where you talk how there is a abudance of food & you were thinking about making it more scarce or something

You use SkyUI right? If so go into MCM and simply set the time it takes to get more hungry/thirsty to take longer. That way you play for longer before you have to eat/drink. Also, shortening the timescale is another great option. I'd recommend timescale of 6.

So are you guys playing with Rate of Exposure at 1.0x? I started out with 0.9 to get it a bit easier as a newbie, but after using Frostfall with two chars and the latter at +Lvl 30 I've toned it down to 0.7 and am actually thinking of toning it down to 0.6. I'm not complaining as it is customizable but I find it a bit too unforgiving and a bit unrealistic at that to almost freeze to death so quickly (and I'm born and raised in northern Sweden so used to cold winters, snowstorms etc.). For instance, my char started out from Frostflow Lighthouse with Exposure 20 and all armor/clothing giving full exposure protection - and she was freezing to death a couple of hundred meters later (well, distances are a bit flaky in Skyrim), close to Hob's Fall Cave. And that's with Rate of Exposure at 0.7 as said. It feels a bit silly to have to set up camp between two such close locations - and also a bit unrealistic as said. You can easily trekk an hour or so in really cold weather without freezing to death if you're warm to start with and have good equipment. As said, no complaints as I can customize it - I mainly wanted to hear how you Frostfall veterans deal with it.

Arkgnt, I've tweaked it as well as I'm playing a hunter who goes into the wilderness for long periods of time and staying in Riften was a no go to get some horker tusks and whatnot. Even if there are plenty of options to resist cold, the default setting added too much micro management for me, hence the tweaking.

Yes, I'll try with 0.6x and see how it plays out. Might have missed some options to resist cold, so perhaps I should check that out as well. But my char has full exposure protection and cast Resist Frost on herself.

I don't mind the standard Rate of Exposure. The scenario you're describing suggests either a snow storm or your character being drenched. Admittedly, the northern holds aren't very forgiving, but that's sort of the point. If you're not forced into survival mode there, then what's the point? Since I play with W.E.A.R enabled, I always have a set of fur armor in my pack for travelling to the northern holds, as well as plenty of torches and stews.

This is what's so great about these mods. Don't like the default settings? Change it. Awesome really.

No, it wasn't a snow storm - and she was completely dry.

This mod is fantastic! Adds a whole another layer to the gameplay in skyrim. I enjoy the falllout feel it adds- where the environment is just as dangerous as the enemies.

Also, a word of warning for anyone playing with LAL: dont start frostfall right away if you use the vigilant of stendarr beginning. I had a hell of a time trying to get anywhere before the cold killed me.

Guess i was a bit too eager to finally try this mod out :) on the plus side, the mad dash from the hall of vigilance to the south was a great crash course in how to survive frostfall. I have never been so happy to find a woodcutter's axe in a bandit fort before. It was like winning the survival lottery :)

Edit: got too caught up in singing your praises, chesko. I forgot to ask my question :)

I keep getting the error msg about "frostfalls scripts running too slow" while in combat. Never happens to me when i am not fighting, and not in every fight (only when a lot of actors are on-screen). Wondering why i am getting this error (as i thought frostfall's scripts shut off while in combat)? I know the error itself is b/c my computer is old and the processor isnt keeping up. I am just wondering if i messed up the install or something since i remember reading frostfall stops running, temporarily, while in combat.

I'm trying to get people to not see the Exposure Rate as a difficulty slider, and to not take it personally if they want to turn it down. It's not a shot against your ego. If it's not fun for you, just turn it down. I have people complaining on both ends of the spectrum; that at 1.5x the game is still too easy because fires are so frequently found. To each their own. I balanced the survival time around 7.5 minutes in a blizzard when wearing full Fur and with around 20% Exposure Resistance while playing at 1.0x; that is my intended target difficulty. Please utilize Player Status -> Rank Info -> Show Tips to check to see if there are ways you can further improve your condition.

Changes to exposure are paused in combat. Frostfall does not ever "stop running" unless you shut it down because a lot of other background stuff has to keep happening even if your exposure isn't changing. You can turn off this message by turning off System Notifications from Frostfall's configuration options. (This only masks the underlying problem, however)

This weekend was spent working on a deeper level of game integration. Here's what got done this weekend:
  • When talking to Alvor or Gerdur in Riverwood after Alduin's attack on Helgen, when asking regarding "Do you have any supplies I could take?", they now have a burlap travel cloak, a small hide tent, and a pair of fur boots you can take.
  • Many of the spell tomes for the new spells added by Frostfall were hand-placed in various locations all over Skyrim. A small number were placed in dungeons, but the majority were placed at unmarked points of interest across Tamriel. See the https://sites.google.com/site/skyrimsurvivorseries/frostfall/spells on their locations.
  • All of the spell tomes are now available for purchase from appropriate mages across Skyrim, assuming your skill level is high enough for them to become available for purchase. See the https://sites.google.com/site/skyrimsurvivorseries/frostfall/spells for details.
  • Most of the spell tomes should now appear in random leveled loot depending on the spell's skill level. See the https://sites.google.com/site/skyrimsurvivorseries/frostfall/spells for details.
  • Various pieces of camping equipment are now available for purchase from general goods vendors across Skyrim. The website will be updated soon with details on what can be purchased, and where.
  • 5 new loading screens have been added related to Frostfall-added spells.
Plus, some other miscellaneous changes and fixes:
  • Identified issue that some areas around Lake Illinalta are "bone-chilling" when they should not be. Still working through this one.
  • Identified issue where a few mountain ranges were "pleasant" when they should not be. Still working through this one.
  • Frostfall's start-up quest prompt has been made more obvious (it is now classified as a Side Quest instead of a Misc Quest, so you will see "STARTED: FROSTFALL"), and the wording of the objective has been made shorter ("Reflect on cold weather survival. (See Quest Journal for details)" ). All possible instructions for starting Frostfall now appear in the Quest Journal.
  • The western section of Wyrmstooth should now have temperatures equivalent to a slightly colder version of Whiterun.
  • Game objects and mesh/texture assets related to an unreleased backpack have been removed. This may result in papyrus log errors once on start-up when upgrading from Frostfall 2.4a, but are harmless.
  • Game objects related to old versions of unused spells have been removed. This may result in papyrus log errors once on start-up when upgrading from Frostfall 2.4a, but are harmless.
  • The loading screen with the walking stick now has the correct (new) walking stick mesh.
  • Fixed a minor issue where, if using one of the magic lifts from Dragonborn or using TCL to move directly upwards, the player could be affected in the Active Effects GUI with a "Shelter Detect Beam" effect, which was never supposed to be visible.
None of the changes regarding adding items or spells for purchase or in leveled loot lists involved "hard" edits to Leveled Lists. Any Leveled List edits are managed via script so the incompatibility footprint of leveled list edits and vendor merchandise is still zero.

Agreed. It's an amazing mod, I'd say almost peerless when it comes to immersion. I've actually almost felt freezing in the middle of a warm summer night while playing it.

Yes, as said - no criticism really as I can customize it. I merely wanted to hear how Frostfall veterans handled 1.0x Exposure Rate and above in actual gameplay. 0.6x seems like a sweet spot for me so far. Looking forward to the update.

Oh, i must have misunderstood that part of readme, oops :P guess i equated not tracking exposure with off!

Anyway, this doesnt seem to have any effect on the functioning of the mod outside of combat. Exposure and "wetness" seem to update about every 5secs give or take (i assume thats normal). So now that my fears of a bad install, or the like, are put to rest ill consider this a non-issue and continue to enjoy trying to keep my character from freezing to death :)

Still no option as to light fire (for camp) using spell ?

Very interesting to see progress and planned changes, will still keep this mod on tracked.

These additions sound amazing and perfect for the play-through I began recently (non-nordic mage, freezing my poor little elven butt off).
I am excited for its release. ^_^

As for the person talking about lighting fire with spell: I use Flames.

Seden might be referring to lighting unlit campfires in the world that you didn't build, like Dynamic Fires. Good news: that is now a feature and will be in Frostfall 2.5. Unlit campfires in the world will behave identically to Frostfall campfires and can be lit, put out, burn out over time, and so on. Two exceptions: 1) You can't destroy them, 2) campfires that are already lit cannot be put out, as that would probably cause some thematics issues that NPCs would not be able to react to. You could put out campfires that other NPCs are sitting next to and they'd continue to do so near an unlit campfire and it would just be silly.

Also, 2.5 will feature a new texture and mesh for the Survivor's Guide by Doccdr and DanielCoffey of Book Covers Skyrim fame.
