[Relz] Mr Frosty The Snowman

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 6:38 am

My last two threads got pruned over time. With requests coming in asking to use him I thought I'd re-do the release thread. Because it's getting to that time of the year. Again.
I never had an elaborate readme, so I'll just copy/paste what I wrote the first time.
He was originally released back in October 2007.

Mr Frosty is fully textured, but static, which means he can't be picked up or moved. He wears a black hat, has a carrot nose and coal for buttons. He also holds a broom but that's not part of his mesh, I added that in from the Construction Set for aesthetic purposes.

To Install:
The OMOD version can just be popped into your Oblivion\OBMM\Mods folder and the next time OBMM is launched he can be activated and ready to go.
For manual installation drop the Meshes, Textures and Mr Frosty.esp into your Oblivion\Data folder, saying Yes To All at the prompt.

To Uninstall:
OMOD - Double-click the OMOD in the right-hand pane to remove all snowman files from your Data folder.
Manual - Navigate to your Oblivion\Data folder and remove the MrFrosty folders found in:
Meshes\MrFrosty
Textures\MrFrosty
as well as the Mr Frosty.esp

Where To Find:
As of version 1.1 Mr Frosty can now be found in three locations around Cyrodiil. The first is outside the Bruma Castle with a note on his left arm giving a hint on where the other two can be found. Hopefully it's fairly obvious.

Conflicts/Issues:
The places I've added him shouldn't conflict with anything. But, if they do, please let me know and I shall move him.
May not work with Open Cities Bruma, may need to merge Mr Frosty with that mod first.

Permissions:
If you wish to use Mr Frosty in your mods please let me know beforehand.

Credits:
A huge thanks to JDFan for the UV mapping and texturing. All my problems were solved when he came to the rescue :)
A big thank you also to WillieSea for his input, encouragement, ideas and testing.

Enjoy ^_^

Changelog:

V1.1 - When the guys at Cloud Ruler heard about Mr Frosty they decided to make one of their own and have him as a mascot. He wards off unwelcome visitors in his own way.
- Anvil somehow heard of the new craze in the north and thought they'd make their own. Of course lugging snow from the mountains was pretty silly so with all their water and sand they made a Sandman. He stands guard outside the Anvil Castle gate sporting items to match his home.
Leyawiin and Skingrad are currently devising how theirs should look. They said they'd get back to me.
Update: As of 2009 I haven't heard a thing, so have ceased production of further Snowmen.

Two people I know of have Christmas mods in the works and Mr Frosty will be featuring in those. If anyone wishes to include him in Christmas mods you're welcome to, but can I please have a link when the mod is released? :hehe:

It's a wonder this didn't get pruned.

The new permission and credit boxes on Nexus have been edited so there's no need, really, to PM asking permission to use him. He can be used without asking, but I have just a little request :hehe: Can you please PM through a link to your released mod?
I've only recently started adding links to those mods that use him to the bottom of my download page. So far, I've remembered one. There are lots more but over time I just never kept the PM's. I should have.

If I had Oblivion installed, still, I'd load up all those mods that use him and go screenshotting for the page as well. That'd be quite interesting, seeing the different mods people have made with him in it. Plus, we don't get snow in Australia at Christmas (it's Summer here), so it's probably the closest I'd get to it :P

Just bumping this up before it gets pruned and to mention those Nexus boxes. I didn't think to change the Oblivion ones, I was more concentrating on my Fallout ones

As it's coming up to Winter in Australia I thought I'd bump this up :)

I won't be adding anymore to the mod as I don't have Oblivion installed anymore. If there are any glaring errors or it requires a patch, let me know and whoever wants to can make one which I'll add to the download page.
I haven't heard of any issues so hopefully there are none.

Edit: Oops, I forgot about that subtitle. I guess 'that time of year' could also mean Winter for some of us, instead :)
