Frozen Vampires

Post » Mon Feb 21, 2011 6:49 pm

Okay I'm sure this has been mentioned before in posts but I think it deserves to be rehashed and given its own thread!

I would love to see a real vampire oriented storyline in Skyrim! Something really tangible that I could grasp onto! In Oblivion, vampires were these enemies that hid in caves and were never seen unless they were trying to kill you. They never interacted with you or were seen trying to hide in everyday life. Aside from those Vampire Hunting quests or the DB, Vampires were completely ignored. In fact, being a Vampire was almost completely meaningless. You were left saying "Okay I'm a Vampire! I have cool new powers! .......not what? ".

Keep in mind that most of Skyrim is snowy, blizzard covered tundra. The optimal environment for vampires! I don't know how many of you have seen the movie "40 Days of Night", but it was the same premise. Say your in Alaska, where there is no sun for days on end. Wouldn't that be the perfect place for a vampire to be? They're already dead so they wouldn't have to worry about freezing to death.

Why wouldn't there be random vampire families or groups spread around the arctic parts of Skyrim? It would be the desired spot for Vampires throughout Tamriel! They would prey on small towns throughout the tundra with ease!

How awesome would it be to become a Vampire, wipe out or attack a town, and have the people of the town become afraid? Or the news of the attacks spread across Skyrim?

I know most of my post is random ranting and wishes and surely none of my ideas will make it into the game but all I'm asking for is more in-depth gameplay as a Vampire.

Make being a Vampire awesome! :goodjob:

That would be pretty cool.
Maybe even a vampire clan where many of Skyrim's vampires are in and have their own base :foodndrink:

I think that I read something about about Skyrim having vampires that could move through glaciers. But, I could be wrong.

I really hope that's the case. I feel like that book must have been put in as some sort of clue as of what to expect - and no doubt if it is true, the first time it happens will scare the crap out of me :P

Yeah that's what i was thinking. That would be pretty cool. Maybe even human slaves that we could use as servants.
BTW I HATE Twilight but if the werewolves and vampires had a feud and would sometimes randomly raid each other's HQ that would be pretty cool

That wasn't a stupid post at all... you have read the book that says that Skyrim vamps do that, right?

It would be fantastic if Vampire where an adequate faction, like a guild, with quests and hideouts and finding a way to live and go through the game in your newly undead state, and maybe building a layer... I think I would enjoy living under the frozen lake when I'm not adventuring :) Let us have a proper vampirism, not "accident that has to be quired with one quest"

The next day, he did return with more questions, these ones very specific. He wanted to know about the vampires of eastern Skyrim. I told him about the most powerful tribe, the Volkihar, paranoid and cruel, whose very breath could freeze their victims' blood in the veins. I explained to him how they lived beneath the ice of remote and haunted lakes, never venturing into the world of men except to feed.

Movarth Piquine listened carefully, and asked more questions into the night, until at last he was ready to leave.

"I will not see you for a few days," he said. "But I will return, and tell you how helpful your information has been."

True to his word, the man returned to my chapel shortly after midnight four days later. There was a fresh scar on his cheek, but he was smiling that grim but satisfied smile of his.

"Your advice helped me very much," he said. "But you should know that the Volkihar have an additional ability you didn't mention. They can reach through the ice of their lakes without breaking it. It was quite a nasty surprise, being grabbed from below without any warning."

"How remarkable," I said with a laugh. "And terrifying. You're lucky you survived."

This was taken from the book "Immortal Blood". It's a very good read. If you want to read it go http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Immortal_Blood. Or you can head to Vilverin in Oblivion and read it after you kill a couple of bandits. Make sure to read it at night hehe. The Oblivion ambient music makes the read even more engaging.

I really hope that's the case. I feel like that book must have been put in as some sort of clue as of what to expect - and no doubt if it is true, the first time it happens will scare the crap out of me :P

Don't get your hopes up of them being extremely powerful though. After all the only vampire to beat the man was a Cyrodiilic vampire hehe.

Morrowind had vampire clans. I think vampire factions would be a great addition to Skyrim.

Thats the kind of stuff I'm talking about! Having Vampire clans and going through ice sounds awesome! Seriously, imagine being in a Vampire clan below a frozen lake and feeding off the local town! Then having to eventually fight of the hunters or posse type militia that comes to destroy you! That would be sick as heck! :celebration:

well you would have to be very thirsty for blood n shiate, and they are really far into the game? AND you could only find them in a quest, of course a moder would have to do this, since dev's dont care too much for these forums, only for mods, as you can tell by FNV.

Sadly I'm playing on a PS3 so no mods for me :cryvaultboy:

And I don't know how you would even role play a Vampire speaking as there is nothing to do in the game for them but bite someone while their sleeping!

Thats something else I would like to see; being able to openly attack and feed off of someone! :celebration:

" Oh hello there Mrs. Stranger! What a lovely necklace you have there! May I get a closer look.........*chomp*"

Seriously getting my hopes to high.........

They listen to the forums all the time but they don't use ideas inspired by complaining about things that were removed or wasn't put in but has no reason to be in and would take more time than it's worth. They didn't just remove spears, levitation and the extra armor slots for no reason, they took them out because they were easily abused and needed to be reworked to go back in the game. If they add things back in that used to be in the game that was taken out in Morrowind great but they need to be better implemented than they were in Morrowind.

You forgot about Janus Hassildor, the Count of Skingrad :)

I'd like to see some frozen vampires that belong to a different class or group than your standard Oblivion cave-dwelling vampires. Maybe they're older, more evil, more powerful, or altogether different. Maybe there are only frozen vampires because they ousted or out-competed the other kind... however it's dealt with, I'd like to see frozen vampires. It'd be badass indeed.
